The 1661 Inn I booked a room for 9/23/22-9/25/22 for my 25th wedding anniversary. My **** was charged on 9/6/22 $1,802.36 I notified the Inn on 9/22/22 due to family emergency I would not be able to keep my reservation. I got deafly sick vomiting and diarrrhea. I asked the hotel if I could please reschedule the following weekend (I looked on there website they had rooms available) or if possible a credit for a future stay. They told me I had to cancel my reservation 2 weeks before in writing or a forfeit my credit card charge. They refuse to do anything to accommodate me. What is a person suppose to do if they are too sick to travel?? There policy is so unfair!!Customer response

We are sorry that you are disappointed with our policy, however as stated in our cancellation policy all reservations are non-refundable and non-changeable within the 14 days immediately prior to the scheduled arrival.
Additionally, we would have been happy to issue a gift certificate less a 10% cancellation fee if the room had been re rented, but we were unable to re rent the room with such short notice.
Since the room was not re rented, we are unable to offer a refund or gift certificate.
We understand that our cancellation policy is more strict than guests are used to finding on the mainland, but with such a short season on Block Island we need to have a strict cancellation policy.
This is also why our confirmation email includes a recommendation to protect your travel investment by purchasing travel insurance.
Again, we are sorry that you are disappointed, however our policy is clear and we are unable to offer a refund or gift certificate.
