signed contract in November. Took deposit in January & disappeared for months. Avoided all contact. supposed to do the job by March 1st. After NO SHOW, we went to hire another company. Easter Sunday when nobody was around he sent a man to demo our pool so he could say "started job". caused so much damage we wasted 133k gallons of water & hire 2 guys for a week to clean up. disappeared again for weeks. After threatening legal action he decided to communicate. sent 2 men last Friday at 3pm to start work. 1 guy left for hours. Other man did more demo work. 1st man returned he started work until 7pm. Saturday morning the men are back. owner spent more time on phone arguing than working. demands more money for the same job. demands the job will be finished by the end of day and wants immediate payment. Saturday is over, guys are gone and work is barely half complete. 3 days of fight over text to get him to return and complete work, we gave up, went to inspect work ourselves and hire another contractor. THANK GOD we did. "work" he did was so bad all needs to be completely removed and start from beginning. so much damage it'll take another contractor a week to repair before they can begin to tile again. TERRIBLE WORK will cost almost $10k just to put us back where we were 6 months ago. Now for the details. we contracted him to replace pool tile. Remove the old tile and replace with exact new tile. We paid 50% up front. balance due upon completion. contract said replace tile. Now he says our tile doesn't include depth markers being replaced (even though he damaged them all) and we would have to pay extra for them. And finally we found out today that the insurance papers that he presented to us were FAKE. We require a proof of insurance and W9 from all vendors and contractors. He presented us with both. However when speaking with insurance company regarding damages, we were informed that his insurance lapsed on 6/17/22 and the Accord he presented is a FRAUD.

This client is an HOA. They had originally asked us to redo the tile in their pool in the spring to avoid having water out of the pool during the off-season.
We came out, did the demo, and had the new tile installed. All tiles were cut and installed at or above industry standard and were placed in a manner of much higher quality than the original tile work. We were supposed to come out to do the final quality control inspection and grout and finish the job. However, the HOA President spoke with us, said he didn’t like the color of the tile and kicked us off the job site. The HOA had chosen the tile we had installed. Other HOA board members had warned us of the erratic nature of the HOA President. We were not allowed to come finish the grout work and they still owe us the other half of the contract.
This is clearly an issue with the HOA President, not the work performed.

I am rejecting this response because:

This has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with tile color and has everything to to with a scam artist trying to pass himself off as a professional.   There's no way in the world we would have fired a contractor and spent $10k to hire another contractor just to change a color.

Everything this man touched had to be demolished, removed, working aread repaired and all tile work replaced.  We have HUNDREDS of photos and videos to prove it.

Furthermore,  this contractor was several months behind schedule.

final note, this contractor entered into the contract under fraudulent pretenses.   We require a W9 and certificate of insurance for any and all vendors / contractors.  This man presented us with a certificate of insurance and we found out later that it was fake.  His insurance policy lapsed for Non Payment 40 days after policy inception. I have attached a few photos for example.  More can be found online on the Google ratings and I'm more than happy to present all of the photos and videos to ANYONE that wants to see this disgusting workmanship.

      Sincerely,
      Joshua S****
