On 20 Nov 2021, I contacted the tow service to have my car towed back to my house and wet agreed the cost would be $225. It broke down on the highway. The company called me on the way to my house and asked where to put the car. I let the driver know I was on the way but my oldest son would pay him because he would get there first. A little while later my neighbor called me because they heard a very loud noise. She said the tow truck was attempting to back up his truck with my car attached and smashed into my mailbox. She said he made numerous attempts and almost hit our other vehicle. We pulled up the live feed on our security camera and could see the damage from about 40 feet away. I called the driver and asked if he hit the mailbox. He said no I don't think so but let me check. Then he said oh I made a small dent. I'll report it and cover the damage. I told him I'll be there soon and we'll discuss this. He immediately unhooked the car and left it in the road. When I got home I discovered the car had a huge dent in the rear quarter area and the mailbox was destroyed. I called SC highway patrol and reported the accident. Fast forwarding a few days, his insurance company said the tow truck owner owes me the $500 deductible. I texted the company my address and told him to send $275. This was the deductible minus the tow fee. He ignored me for a day and then responded with no intentions of paying me. I had to take a day off of work to fix the mailbox and have the vehicle damage evaluated. The company owes me $380. Deductible plus one day of work. I don't receive vacation pay.
