I made the mistake of using Movement Mortgage to finance a recent condominium purchase and will never use this company again. If you are a Veteran, I strongly recommend you find another mortgage company to use as Movement Mortgage is not a Veteran friendly company. We used Movement Mortgage to finance the purchase of a condominium in December of 2023. On two occasions in April and August of this year, Movement Mortgage conducted an escrow analysis using a property tax amount for an out of state resident. Apparently the incompetent and inept employees at the Movement Mortgage tax department do not know the difference between a SC state resident and an out of state resident. These imbeciles calculated our monthly escrow amount using an out of state tax rate which is four times the resident tax rate! This caused me undue stress and anxiety as I am a disabled Veteran on a fixed income and any increase to my mortgage payment would adversely affect my lifestyle and ability to provide for my family. In addition, I am a disabled combat Veteran and am exempt from paying property taxes for this condominium. Movement Mortgage would not except the tax-exempt letter from the county and requested a zero-based tax bill. I have never had to provide a zero-based tax bill for other mortgage companies I have used in the past to verify my tax-exempt status. If you are looking for a reputable mortgage company with competent employees, then do not use Movement Mortgage. Their employees are incapable of determining the difference between a resident and non-resident tax rate and actively discriminate against disabled Veterans by requiring additional documentation other mortgage companies do not require to verify a tax-exempt status. Stay away from Movement Mortgage as they do not deserve your time, money, or patronage especially if you are a disabled Veteran.Review from Kyle H

I would never recommend ******* ****** or Movement Mortgage after an immense amount of mistakes that were very easily preventable during a refinance process. I was misled by the loan officer on multiple occasions. The communication is so awful within this mortgage company, nobody involved was on the same page. The closing attorney never showed up to closing. Another one of the attorney's committed fraud by copying my signature onto a form I never approved of in order to forcibly add someone to the deed when it was already communicated that they didn't have to be added to the deed. This was an awful experience that had me deal with so many individuals who are uneducated in the field of lending.Review from Stacy P

This company is horrible to deal with. What should have been an easy loan and an easy purchase of a home both on separate occasions done both thru the a girl there. Then when she wasnt doing anything to progress the equity line of credit she dropped the ball. Then she went to do a in the family home purchase that had to be turned over to management. It took a YEAR to sell a in the family home because she was more interested in selling their products to get you to borrow a lot more money. Terrible dont use them its nothing but pushing products on you and they have their own banking company and they are very stingy. Dont waste your time and save yourself from having to pay for a prescription of Xanax!Review from Ashlee H

I started this process living in **********, my family and I were interested in purchasing a home in ************** to be closer to our family. Having 3 children with 1 on the way, purchasing our first home. This was an unparalleled joy for my husband and I to embark on this journey. I was working with ************************* a lender with the company, he was referred by the realtor we started the process with. He took our application and gave an exciting announcement as we were pre approved for a mortgage. There were some red flags in the beginning as he was not forth coming with information and the information he did provide did not always match up to what he later said. There were many conversations we had where he wouldnt remember previous conversations or he would contradict what he previously stated. When I would call him out on it he would apologize and then all of a sudden remember what he previously stated. During this process I submitted numerous amounts of paperwork which is expected in purchasing a home. We had put an offer in on a home and had a projected closing date of May 30th, we made a plan to terminate our lease in our apartment and drive across the country for our closing. For the closing fee I asked him should I take from my 401k when thats apart of the assets I have, he advised it would be no problem. So I did, when I did that it became a problem being the very issue I asked about from the beginning, my husbands money couldnt be sourced after providing numerous months of statements to show where the money came from and my parents gifted us part of the closing. Since my parents did this they ***** and his manager ***** advised for me to asked me to get my parents to gift the portion my husband and I try to give as their money was verified. So I did and when I did that my closing wasnt approved because my parents gave to much. The advice they provided lead my family and I homeless, losing out on the deal and money we put into the dealReview from Youssef A

Who said they stop practicing disparity, discrimination against blacks, minority, unethical representative, unethical movement, false information, practicing unfair illegal tactics. It's time for another class action against them because they don't stop. Now they asked intuit to asked for old employments to try to cover up their lies and false claim that FHA, USDA AND ITHER LENDERS denied me. ******** the underwriter is a racist and evil person. Faith believer God need to send lightening just like he did with the devil. Yes I read your faith ****** God is so abuse in your nasty cover up racism against blacks and latinos loan. You keep playing dirty with my application, liars. Blacks and Latinos beware, I don't know about anyone but you need to check the reviews and make sure it's not their friends, families, co-workers and Caucasians giving them. The builders who are using them should be ashamed! Let look up the stats on most loan approval with ************************* homes in Georgia and see who really gets approved. Anyone like myself has gotten discrimination against their application fight with the court of law and let your voice be heard. ***** you keep asking me for jobs over 2 years talking about in order to approved me, first it was denial by ********************* then **** now you *****. Please stop using God's name. H*** is real and Heaven choose which way all of you really want to go. Thank you whistle blowers God don't like ugly and lies is one of the deadliest sin God detest against it. Lies hurt people. Let me school you on faith, because I walk with the anointed and the Angelic Angels. So go ahead all evil must cone to an end. Amen! I do not usually leave negative review posts. But after this past month, and missing our closing date, we are very aggravated. We applied with Movement Mortgage in *********, ** and had issues the entire time. They sold a great story and made things sound like they would be smooth sailing. I was pre-approved easily, terms were set and a closing date had been set for a month later. Usually during this time, the underwriting, paperwork, and titling takes place. Not the case for us. We were lied to and misled the entire time. We were told things were happening and being taken care of, and they were not. We werent even contacted by the underwriters until two days prior to our closing date!! Long story short, we ended up missing our closing date, lost the property, and found out we were lied to. Nothing had been done. The person we were working with either quit or was terminated due to this also happening to other clients. However, I highly recommend not using this company based on my experience. I would relate this experience and company to the equivalent of a low grade Quicken Loan or other generic service. Had binding documents been signed, we would be seeking legal litigation from this company.Review from Tanya D

The extreme amount of documentation and explanation we had to provide in order to get a mortgage approval was concerning. We had to answer questions and send proof of items that we were clear for overreaching. We have excellent credit and had the initial required documents. We were required to provide items that seemed as if we were being discriminated against And were predatory practices towards us. The process took so long that our interest rate went up. We were not pleased with the extreme asks that were required.Review from Justin E

If it was possible to leave no stars, there would be no starts left...We started wanting to purchase another home in the beginning of 2023. We decided at that time to use Movement since they were our current lender, and I had a friend who worked there. We originally planned to sell our house and move the new house we had found in the middle of August. After multiple delays and pushbacks due to buyers having issues, we had to continually wait to close on our house till October 4th. The *********************** office didn't even record the deed in our name until that date! Movement decided to deduct a regular payment on October 1st for the house we sold on the 4th of October, then close our loan on October 4th for the new house, and then proceed to tell us that since they originally planned to have it closed in September, we'd now owe the first payment on the house on November 1st. That is 3 weeks after we got keys to move in. Granted we wanted to buy this house to upgrade in size and usability of the house, we should have made a better choice on whom to do business with. I have brought this issue up to the servicing department that I was told to contact by the employee who I worked with during the 2 month ordeal to purchase a house. They have decided to use the paperwork we originally did in the beginning of Sept, not the e-signed paperwork we had to re-do on Sept 29. Despite being shown proof in multiple forms that they didn't close the loan till October 4th, so the first payment should be December 1st.Life really throws you curveballs when you try to support the wrong companies in business. That same employee quit the day I found out they were going to ask us for that new payment. Interesting that not only do they treat their customers poorly with misinformation, ultimately it seems, they don't even have employees that want to stay... maybe it's because even when you need someone to honor something an employee said, they can't be an employee anymore.Review from Tameka G

I have requested a correction to my credit report due to payment error. Despite the error Movement Mortgage refused. The bank then provided me the necessary documentation supporting the error and I have forwarded it to Movement Mortgage yet they are still dragging their feet about making the correction. I attempted to escalate this matter and I believe as a result of this escalation, the servicing department is disregarding my request.
