Subject: ****************************** on My Vehicle Dear Take 5 Oil Change,I am writing to formally address an urgent issue that has occurred after the oil change service on my 2019 ****** Pathfinder at your location on July 26, 2024. Below is a detailed timeline of events that have transpired since the service:July 26, 2024: I had an oil change performed at your location.August 28, 2024: I returned to the same location after noticing a knocking sound coming from my engine. A technician checked my oil and informed me that there was no oil in the engine. The technician proceeded to top off the oil and stated that there was a gasket leak. I informed her that my vehicle does not have a gasket.Another technician then stated, "We need to drain and do another oil change so we have the right oil this time."I was told the knocking sound would stop after driving, but the sound persisted. I knew this was incorrect, and I immediately called to file a complaint with the location.Later that evening, the store manager called and requested I bring my vehicle back for a full oil change the following day himself.August 30, 2024: On my way to the location, my vehicle stopped in the middle of Highway 49. I was stranded for 4 hours in the early morning until the ***************************** and a tow truck arrived. The vehicle was towed to Rock Hill ******.The ****** dealership found that the engine had no oil, resulting in the engine blowing. The service manager at ************************* contacted me directly and provided pictures and videos of the damage.Despite these issues, the district manager *** ******* of Take 5 Oil Change has denied my claim as of Monday, September 9, 2024. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of accountability and the district managers decision to deny my claim, despite the clear evidence of damage caused by insufficient oil levels. I am now facing a costly engine replacement. ***** K ********Business response

Mr. ********
After a thorough inspection, we found no evidence indicating that our service was responsible for the damage to your vehicle. Our team, including the dealership and Take 5 employees, observed no leaks from the oil drain plug or the oil filter, and there was no oil blowback on the underside of your car. These findings strongly suggest that the oil change was performed correctly.
Additionally, we have video evidence confirming that the proper amount of oil was added during your service. The absence of any indications of improper installation of the oil plug or filter further supports our conclusion.
Given this information, we suspect that your vehicle may have an oil consumption problem, which could lead to oil burning and potentially cause damage to the engine.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: where did the oil go from 7/26/2024
The average duration between oil changes varies depending on several factors, including:
Vehicle: 2019 pathfinder
My oil type:
* ************** Synthetic oils last longer than conventional oils.
* Extended performance oil: Some manufacturers offer extended performance oils that can go longer between oil changes.
Manufacturer recommendations:
* Owner's manual: The owner's manual for your vehicle will provide specific recommendations for oil change intervals.
* *************** history: If you have a record of previous oil changes, you can use that information to determine the appropriate interval for your vehicle.
General guidelines:
* ***** to ***** miles: This is a common recommendation for most vehicles, but it can vary depending on the factors listed above.
* Oil life monitor: Many newer vehicles have oil life monitors that can help you determine when to change your oil.
It's important to consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the most accurate oil change interval. Following the manufacturer's recommendations can help ensure the long-term health of your engine.
I didn't reach oil change guide line of 3000-5000.Initial Complaint

I did oil change on 2 August and after 10 days my car started with with smoke and showed low oil level. Now my engine is gone .Business response

We have carefully reviewed the recent service and the subsequent issues that occurred with your vehicle.
Your vehicle was serviced at our location on August 1, 2024. We understand that on August 15, 2024, while traveling from ********* to ********, you experienced a warning light, which you assumed indicated a low oil level. We acknowledge that you added three quarts of oil to your engine at that time, after which the vehicle began emitting significant smoke from the tailpipe.
On August 20, 2024, CARRS of ********* inspected your vehicle and found that both the oil drain plug and oil filter were properly secured with no signs of oil leakage. Their diagnosis indicated that the addition of the three quarts of oil caused the engine to be overfilled, resulting in the engine burning the excess oil and expelling it through the tailpipe. CARRS of Rock Hill then drained the excess oil, refilled the engine to the correct level, and after multiple test drives, confirmed that the smoking issue was subsiding, with no major damage to the engine.
After a thorough review, we can confirm that the service performed by Take 5 Oil Change on August 1, 2024, was executed correctly and in accordance with industry standards. The issues that arose on August 15, 2024, were not caused by our service but rather by the overfilling of the engine with oil.
Regrettably, based on the evidence and findings from CARRS of *********, we must deny any responsibility for the issues you encountered and, therefore, cannot offer compensation or further service related to this matter.
We hope this explanation clarifies the situation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.Initial Complaint

I received an oil change from *********** **** on 1/18/2024 in which they also checked my air filter. I later found out that they replaced the air filter backwards. On Monday (1/22/2024) around 8pm my car entered fail safe mode and stopped working. I had to get it towed to *********************. They found that the air filter was put in backwards, which caused debris to be pulled into the engine, resulting in engine failure. Upon discovering this, I called Take 5 asking for damages to be covered. I had to pay $380 for repairs. I have been calling Take 5 everyday since Tuesday as well as emailing them in order to get the damages they have caused paid for. Each time, it is someone new who answers claiming that the manager is not in, has left for the day, had an emergency at home, etc. Finally, I received an email response in which they attached someone else's receipt (see below). I have attached the email thread below. I am requesting a refund for the faulty service as well as reimbursement for the damages that I had to pay for.Business response

On 7/23/23 My husband and myself took my 2016 Dodge Charger to take 5 for an oil change and paid $62.66 at 3:01 p.m. By 4 p.m. 2-3 miles driven to the grocery store and Circle K my car locked up due to low oil pressure because take 5 stripped the oring causing oil to go everywhere underneath the hood and below the vehicle leaving us stranded at the circle k. This was all stated by the gentleman that take 5 sent out ****** us at the circle k. He then replaced the filter and oring then put more oil in the vehicle. At this time my car would not turn over. He then tried to jump my vehicle off and when it came on all the lights in my vehicle came on. Power steering, ABS, Battery, etc. My breaks locked and the car shut off before we was ever able to move it. After this we sat there waiting over an hour for these guys to get in contact with a manager who tells them not to worry about it that we would have to have it towed. So we had it towed to the dodge place in FM where they sent us estimate on July, 26th of $11,923.01 stating that we needed engine rebuild/replace. The next day the Manager of take 5 tells me that it was not my engine and that I could go pick it up. I then call the dodge service manager who tells me they need to go through my engine. TAKE 5 has yet to take responsibility and it is the 3rd of August. All I have heard and continue to hear is "if" it's something that they've caused they will fix but all I have received is the run around. The Manager has done nothing but smirk in my face basically telling me that I will end up having to pay for it myself because it's an older car with alot of miles on it and it probably had smudge prior. Regardless of the fact, my car was perfectly fine until I drove it out of take 5. So far this has now racked up a diagnostic fee, tow bill and rental charges. I have attached photos and receipts. I also have more photos.Business response
