I should have known better. We bought meat from the van that came up the driveway uninvited on June 3, 2024. Slick sales guy with lots of deals. His products looked good in the packages so we opted for ****** worth of steaks and burgers. After trying to cook the steaks on my Blackstone, Even my dog turned up his nose. The steaks were so tough, a sharp steak knife hardly sliced them. Best advice I can give is to don’t give your hard earned money to these guys. I’m not seeking a refund, we just pitched all in the garbage. The steaks were inedible, they sure cashed my check fast enough. Don’t buy at the door folks !!!!! Hello Glenn - Thank you for the feedback- We will pass this information on to our distributor. If you had contacted us directly we would have been happy to have exchanged the product you were dissatisfied with. But yes when a check is used for payment on product we do cash the check. And our company does deliveries to customer's doors for convenience.Review from Patricia L

I purchased a beef package on May 13, 2024, for ******** It has been undoubtedly the worst food purchase I have ever made. The meat is so tough and has so much gristle, it is INEDIBLE. I don't think it deserves even 1 star. I thought that since a reputable business allowed them to park their truck outside and advertise selling the meat, that it would be okay. WRONG! I have called the company twice and had to leave a voicemail, but I have yet to hear back from then. Fool me once, shame on you....you won't fool me again. And I will make it a point to steer everyone I know away from purchasing this meat. The refund policy is a joke. Who could possible try all of the meat in a package in 3 days to know that it is ALL inedible.Review from Rhonda H

OH MY GOSH!!!!! If you want to spend a ton of money and eat meat that gets bigger as you chew it and grissely, well this is for you! The gentleman that came to my house literally ripped me off. He said it was delicious and such a great cut of meat. Boy did have sucker written on my doorstep. BEWARE, DON"T BUY. No matter what you do to eat to tenderize the meat, it doesn't help. My suggestion is giving to your puppy dog and he can use it for a bone or chew toy.Smokey Mountain Meats Response

A very nice, we thought, salesman drove up to our house on a Sat gave us a sob story told us that our neighbors had just bought from him and they didn't get all they had ordered and if we could please try and take the rest of the meat off their hands. Well, we were stupid and did and have tried 4 different types of the meat we bought and none of them could we eat, We contacted them before the third day, the salesman acted like he didn't have good cell service and called the co that they charged my account too and the manager supposedly wasn't there and was to contact us about our order for a refund. Still to this day one week later and still haven't gotten a response. Looks like lawyers will be contacted because ours was quite a laSmokey Mountain Meats Response

We stand behind our product, and want to work to rectifying any situations that customers are unhappy with. Because Ms. Shoope didn't not follow our refund policy, as states, A written request for rescinded orders must be received by the corporate office within 3 (three) days, excluding Sunday, and by midnight of the third business day of purchase by Certified Mail - pending cleared funds. The mailing address for the ********* ****** *** **** ******* *** ************ ** ****** A refund was never initiated because customer did not follow the refund policy. At this time, we would be happy to switch out any product customer is dissatisfied with.Customer Response

I may not have sent a certified letter to this company since it was bought on Sat and postal service doesn’t open up until Monday. Certified mail can not be delivered to this business within 3 days. I am a retired postal administrator and there is no way that mail can reach this company within their time frame; that’s why we have electronic correspondence. I have reached out to this company many ways except by certified mail knowing that this is just a false statement that can't be achieved. Mrs Anna whom was suppose to contact me, I have never heard from this person and Cruz Lyon the salesman said he would make it right and I have his message on my phone, so this company is a fraudulent company selling door to door meat in other states that a dog can not even eat. This meat when open from the plastic wrap is slimy and sticky, it is not safe to eat.Review from Donna C

We purchased $1,300 worth of the toughest, grissely, unpalatable substance, we ever experienced. No matter what we tried; tenderizing, marinating, soaking, etc., nothing helped. We gave all cases away and the receivers are experiencing the same problems.Smokey Mountain Meats Response

This company comes door to door in a van selling meats. They say that it is fresh meat but it is not as the meat has no grain to it whatsoever. Once cooked it doesn't even remotely resemble real meat when you cut into it. Their salesman also tells you since you're buying $400 worth of meat if you get 2 boxes, that if you don't like their product you can call them back within 3 days of the sale and they will come back and pick it up. This is also not true. I called and spoke with the manager of this location before we had that product for even 48 hours and told her we were not satisfied and wanted to return the product. She said she wasn't sure who told us that we could return it but that wasn't their policy and that she was going to look into it and call us back. A few days later I call her back because I haven't heard anything and now she says for a refund that I would have had to send her a written certified letter within three days of sale to get a refund which no one ever told us. When I questioned her over the phone that she did not tell me that when I spoke to her the 1st time her response was "I don't know if I told you that or not but that's what it is" and then hung up on me. Now no one will answer. For a family of 5 on a single income $440 worth of meat is a lot of money to be wasted. I don't know that I have ever experienced such shady business practice in my life. The only thing they will do to try to correct it is to give us another box of the exact same product which will have the exact same issues as it is not any type of quality meat. If they have salesman giving this pitch in people's driveways they need to stand up to what they are saying. If you know you have this many complaints over the poor quality of your products then you need to be more upfront about what your exchange policies are not waiting till after the period is over and then being up front about it which it seems by their history that's what they do every single time. At Smokey Mountain Meats, we do deliver our products door to door to businesses and residential customers. This purchase was made on 06/13/23. A written request for rescinded orders must be received by the corporate office within 3 (three) days, excluding Sunday, and by midnight of the third business day of purchase by Certified Mail - pending cleared funds. The mailing address for the Corporate Office is: 2179 Highway 75, Blountville, TN 37617. The rescission policy is clearly noted on the Smokey Mountain Meats receipt. As per our records, Ms. ****** did receive a Smokey Mountain Meats receipt at the time of her purchase. Her signature on the receipt is proof that she was made aware of this policy and agreed to it. We stand behind our product, and want to work to rectifying any situations that customers are unhappy with. Since the three day rescission policy was not followed by customer, the only thing we can do is switch out the product Ms. ****** is dissatisfied with, as that option was given when the manager, Anna, spoke to Ms. ****** via phone call.Customer Response

So it was not mentioned by the sales man or Anna at any point until after the grace period had passed. There was no brochure ever seen and if they're was anything on the receipt it's gotta be in some mighty fine print that also never gets pointed out.... so, dance around the point of your deceiving shady business practices if you wish. But, I will post about and continue to tell anyone who will listen to warn them from purchasing this "fresh" product filled goo yall call meat. We regret to hear that customer feels that the product is not edible and that it seems to be a rip off. At Smokey Mountain Meats LLC we stand behind our products, and want to work to rectifying any situations that customers are unhappy with. A written request for a rescinded orders must be received by the corporate office within 3 (three) day, excluding Sunday and by midnight of the third business day of purchase by certified mail - pending cleared funds. A written request was never received from customer. Because of strict guidelines by the USDA, we are unable to resell any product that has left our possession, and because of that, we are unable to offer refunds after the rescind period has passed. I did speak with anna.said she would talk to boss and get back with me.I haven't heard back.And yes I bought this in april.I made 3 appointments that they were coming out in July to make this right.Never came.piunt is I Pais almost 3000 dollars for a 250 dollar freezer.Freezer does work.Yes at this point I would with a refund.Smokey Mountain Meats Response

Due to the fact customer purchasing product and a freezer in April and written request was not sent by certified mailed to the corporate office within 3 days we are unable to honor the refund. Horrible rip off! Do not buy this meat. The servings are very small, sales person very pushy. Meat is tasteless. You will regret it! Forget them answering the phone! This is FRAUD! We, Smokey Mountain Meats, stand behind our product, and want to work to rectifying any situations that customers are unhappy with. We regret to hear that Ms. Q. is dissatisfied with her purchase and the overall experience. Two calls were made to our office location by Ms. Q., one being on 3/29/22, at 4:48pm from 423-388-1743, and the second one on 3/31/22, at 4:31pm, from 423-388-8912. Please note that no one is in the office after 4 pm M - F to answer incoming phone calls. With having a large customer base, we respectfully try to contact customers back within 1-3 business days. Manager, Anna B. , tried to reach out to Ms. Q. on 4/1/22, with the two numbers that were provided, via voicemail, but was unsuccessful.
