We took our cat in to be seen for a UTI and possible FLUTD with a urinary blockage. We were fully aware it could have been serious. We were directed to Copeland by our vet since they could not see us till the next morning. We hesitated but wanted to have him diagnosed. Once at Copeland, without urinalysis or x-rays we were told he had a blockage and had to be hospitalized immediately. Then handed a potential bill of 3k for 3 nights stay and treatment. They wanted to take our cat at that moment to place a catheter. We said "No, we're taking him to our vet the next morning, we already have an appointment lined up". The vet got argumentative and irritated with our decision, and in a heated tone told us that if he didn't take our cat now for immediate treatment, he would die. I don't want to go into the full details of the visit, it was very emotional, caused much undo duress... it was unprofessional, and completely uncalled for on the part of the vet. It was made clear for us to not return to the office (the feeling is mutual!). The office manager did try to defuse the situation but suggested they could euthanize our cat for us since the outcome was grim. We just wanted testing done to diagnose the issue. Felt like this was all about money not about the animal. The next morning we took our cat to our normal vet, who we have used for years and fully trust with all of our animals. No our cat did not die over night like we were told in a very dramatic manor. He did not have any blockage and did not require hospitalization. As suspected, He did have a UTI. All he needed was antibiotics and a prescription diet (which we had asked Copeland for and was told it would not work) Take this as a warning, avoid Copeland

they will go out of their way to encourage you to kill your pet through euthanasia no matter what the problem is with your pet. Mine had pneumonia and the overnight doctor that they connected me to initially tried to refuse me service After I called back several of the people I talk to basically were just like "well it's all about quality of life" and tried to get it me to kill my cat. I guess it's easier to make money for doing nothing than it is to do something. Yesterday they admitted that they didn't do anything to my cat or give him any treatment for one solid day. They actually told me to bring in food to see if he would eat because they didn't know if he had eaten anything since I brought him in. They seemingly ignore the duty of care clause in the Hippocratic oath. They did seemingly also ignore the law in Tennessee that says that you can't estimate something and then re-estimate it and not inform the people who are being forced to pay it prior to the reestimation of price. They raised our price by roughly $1,000 and then tried to threaten retribution by not letting us come back for our checkups that are legally mandated by that oath. Their office manager is one of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of deal with. She also claimed that she had dealt with me at ***** veterinary clinic. I've never seen this woman in my life until today, she must be very VERY confused? I've never in my life had a bad experience with or at ***** veterinary clinic so she must be very very confused much like she was earlier today clearly. On the days that my cats regular doctor was there, my cat looked and acted 100% better than he did on the days that my cat was not taken care of by the same doctor he was miserable. He also did not seem like he felt as good the next day and my doctor was very confused by this, as am I. They are not kind to animals or people.
