A year ago when we were in the process of purchasing our home through VA financing, we opted to have a separate septic inspection done. Roto-Rooter came out to do the inspection and claimed all was well. The septic tank was under the sidewalk and though they claimed they inquired about digging up the sidewalk, they never did. We would have absolutely had them do it, money was not an object. Fast forward and our septic is a mess. The local company handling it says that this is not a problem that happens in a year, this was a problem that has been existing for a long time. Now I have to shell out 10k to have it fixed. I don't think Roto-Rooter did their job. They scammed my family out of $375. We would not have purchased this home if we had known there was a septic issue, or would have requested the seller fix it before we did. I not only want an apology, I want the money back for an inspection that we never even got paperwork on. I don't have it, our realtor doesn't have it, and the selling realtor doesn't have it. The only paperwork I have from them is a receipt. It seems very shady to me, and the company has been nothing but combative over the phone. If it comes down to it, we WILL hire an attorney to handle it, but I want to give the company one last chance to fix their lies. This is not ok. My husband and I are both disabled veterans - today's pump cost $750, and now this issue that could have been detected with a proper inspection is going to cost us thousands. The least they can do is refund the inspection fee.
