They asked for measurements, so we gave them to them. The employee miscalculated the amount of concrete needed, and so when the concrete was delivered they were about a yard short. Now I'm being charged for THEIR mistake, and they won't budge on the price. I am being charged for ANOTHER delivery fee along with other fees, even though they screwed up. When this company makes mistakes, they will not own up to it and make it right. Instead, I get penalized even more. They said if I didn't pay them for their mistake, they would put a lien on my property.

Before moving into our new home, SRM concrete did the driveways and walkways. We have only lived here since October 2023. After some weather in January, our driveway and sidewalk have begun to crumble and fall apart because they did not pour the concrete correctly. This problem also happened at about 20 other homes in the neighborhood. Because of their inability to do the one thing they advertise about, our driveway is now crumbling to pieces and continues to do so every time it rains and gets worse and worse. They have decided it is "not their problem" to fix their mistakes. Which leaves us out possibly thousands of dollars to replace because of what they failed to do.

      **********,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, were very sorry to hear that youve experienced these issues with your driveway and sidewalk.  It sounds like what is happening with your concrete is consistent with scaling, which is localized flaking or peeling near the surface.  Scaling most commonly occurs as a result of freeze thaw cycles and the application of de-icing chemicals.  If the concrete is not properly sealed, water will penetrate through the surface and saturate the concrete.  When the water freezes, its expands and creates pressure within the concrete slab.  These pressures will generally release in the weakest part, which is typically at the surface.  Most commonly, the de-icing chemicals are the salts and brines put out during a winter weather event and tracked onto the surface from vehicle traffic.  These chloride-based brines can chemically attack the concrete and lead to deterioration, but they also lower the freezing point of water and can increase the amount of freeze thaw cycles that the concrete is exposed to.

We would be more than happy to send a representative from SRM out to your house to further investigate the issues.  They may also be able to recommend a solution that can mitigate the existing damage and potentially extend the lifespan of the concrete surface.

On 6/21 spoke to ***** the salesman for the Belton ** area for a price quote, while talking to him about the project, ***** gave me a verbal 139 price which wasnt to far off most of his competitors so I didnt think much of it. We went into more description about getting an acct. ***** kindly referred me online and how to get the acct started. We wanted to pay cod but was also told if we got a acct you get $5 off a yard, if paid within 10 days then they take another $2 dollars off. Im thinking great. On 7/25 I reach back out to *****, get the acct aquired/15k limit and we start to pour on the 31st. We pour 65 yrds on ************** and 107 on 8/3. I know this exceeded my credit limit and we had one more final pour to do, so I called ***** to see if there was a bill which there still wasnt. ***** gives me the number to the acct manager which I tell the situation to about wanting to bring them a check so we could pour the remaining on 8/7. We still didnt have online access to the acct to view things and no bills. We pour the final 73 yards and a few days later we get our first bill. Its for 147yrd. I immediately text ***** which of course says o we had a price increase in April, I say well you gave me this price on 6/21. ***** informs me to contact acct manager which has no idea what hes supposed to do cause he only collects and sends me back to *****. Now we are clear this is a normal tactic for this company and there giving me the run around, so I call the sales manager for this district. No answer, so I left a message. Waited several days, no answer so I called him again. He then calls me back and I go into detail on what happened. He goes to tell me SRM has never had a price of 139, which according to ***** was. Now there blowing smoke, plainly showing that Im wasting his thing he says to me is sir, it is what it is I dont know what to tell you. Srm has always been more expensive then everyone else. So ***** plainly lied, and SRM IS okay with it

Smyrna Ready Mix Concrete, LLC denies ******************** allegations and his request for a billing adjustment. Our pricing is set for all products at all plants, and our sales team members only provide approved pricing information. Our pricing was updated on April 1st, 2022, and according to our records, the price for the product purchased by ****************** was not $139/CY, before or after the updated pricing. We believe that while ***************** was gathering quotes from several ready-mix suppliers, he confused a few of the quotes. ****************** does not have any written communication with any member of our sales team quoting $139/yard.

Today, August 18, 2023, I was supposed to get concrete to replace my patio and driveway apron. The concrete company by the name of SRM Concrete which is based out of Tennessee came and when the concrete was coming out of the cement truck it wasn't soft and not coming out of the ***** easily. It was more like chunks of rock. My construction guy and his team kept adding water to see if it would help but it wasn't working so they barely had enough concrete to do my apron. They said it was "hot concrete" and was no good to use on my back patio. The crew from SRM didn't want to get another truck with "good" concrete so they left. When they lifted up the ***** a big pile of concrete fell out of the part where it folds into two and they left the clump of concrete in front of my driveway for construction guy's team to clean up. So now my construction guy is out the money he paid him and wants his money back. Not to mention I now have to wait 2-3 more days to get my patio done. SRM Concrete *************. ***************** ordered the concrete. Feel free to contact me at ********************* Thank you.

Smyrna Ready Mix Concrete, LLC has resolved this issue with the **************** contractor. The contractor was recommended the use of a ******er in his order, however he refused. It took the contractor over an hour to place 4 yards of concrete. After they had poured 4 yards, the contractor called our office and let us know that the concrete was curing. We sent quality control and sales team members to the job site to assist them, but they refused the recommendations and demanded the concrete be returned. The contractor failed to place the concrete in a timely manner, causing the concrete to begin to cure. We delivered a new batch of concrete the next day at 12:02, and we waived the delivery fee, and the contractor ordered ******er. It was also mentioned that some concrete spilled out of the chutes. Our salesperson and quality control team member offered to clean up the concrete, but we refused the opportunity.

To whom this may concern:I worked with exclusive concrete construction (ECC) and paid their contractor (***********************) in full after the job was completed in March of 2023. My contract for the job was with ECC, not SRM (Smyrna Ready Mix) . Two months later, I got a notice in the mail asking me for 1500$ because ECC didnt not pay their bill to SRM. They threaten to get a lien on my property if I didnt pay: morally wrong! It is the equivalent of going to Target and buying a toaster and then getting a bill from the toaster manufacturer because Target didnt pay their vendor. Now I have to pay for an attorney to deal with their incompetence for failing to get payment at time of their delivery to their customer (ECC). I am the final destination costumer at the end of the chain and have zero knowledge involving concrete and construction nor was I provided any notice in regards to the legality of the above at the time of project completion, I find it unfathomable that the final customer is responsible for the incompetence of both companies .Sincerely,*************************** ************** ******************

We purchased 10 yards of concrete from their Louisville location. They sent their driver from the knoxville location at 1:30 in the afternoon to Lenoir City. It took their driver over an hour to get to our location. The concrete arrived hot and after the second drop in the ******* buggy, it was already setting up. We had him add 20 gallons of water to the truck and the concrete was still to hard to manage. We told him to take it back and bring us fresh concrete. He emptied his shoot into my driveway, and all over our vehicle. We were able to unload 2 yards of concrete and he took back 8. They are refusing to help us with any kind of resolution as to getting more concrete brought and are refusing to refund us for any of the concrete they took back. We are out almost $2000. Their dispatch guy, ****, hung up on us 3 times and refused to give us a managers information to try to help us. When we did finally connect with *****, he needed to pull all the logs and confirm everything. In the end, the hour that it took them to get the concrete to us, holds no bearing and they are refusing any kind of help. Definitely do not recommend this company.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/22) */ SRM Concrete denies the claimant's request for a refund of the concrete supplied to *****************************, TN 37771 on September 15, 2022. Our records indicate that the claimant is responsible for the failure to unload the purchased concrete in a timely manner resulting in the concrete losing workability. Our operator's report of the events on September 15th differs from those reported by Mrs. *********. That record indicates the contractors filled two buggies upon arrival of the concrete. After 5 minutes, the contractor took a third buggy. 30 minutes passed, and our operator went to the back of the property to see the contractors still working the first three buggies. After washing his chutes to avoid concrete curing in the hinges, our operator waited another 30 minutes before being told by Mr. ********* that the concrete was hot. The concrete was not hot when it arrived as was batched fresh at 1:25pm. The concrete lost workability because it sat at the jobsite for over an hour. During the initial phone call order by Mr. *********, our team informed Mr. ********* that we were using a "straight cement" mix with no fly-ash added. Our team explained to Mr. ********* that a straight cement mix cures quickly. It not designed to cure as slowly as the contractors finishing process would require. Our operator left the plant at 1:36pm and arrived at 2:40pm. The primary function of the 2% retardant included in the concrete is to slow the curing of the concrete during the hour-long transport. When ordering the concrete, Mr. ********* did not specify that the contractors would be using a ******* Buggy to transport the concrete to the back of the property (see audio recorded named "Initial-Phone-Call.mp3"). This factor is critical to the ordering process as the method used by the contractor takes significantly longer to discharge the concrete from the truck than other methods. If Mr. ********* would've indicated they would be using this slower finishing method, our dispatch team would have recommended a different mix design or waited to fulfill the order when fly-ash became available. SRM cannot be held responsible for Mr. *********'s inexperience with the concrete ordering process and his contractor's time-consuming process. As the damages to the vehicle are concerned, our operator asked where he could wash-out his chutes. He was instructed to wash-out in the driveway near a vehicle. Some concrete splashed onto the vehicle, and while our operator tried to wash it off, he appeared to have missed a few spots. SRM's General Manager, ***** ****, has offered to have the vehicle cleaned. We have not yet reached a resolution.

On August 3, 2022 I received a load of concrete that was 30 minutes late.... It wouldn't take water..... did not seem to have the 2% retarder in it... the driver dumped a half yard of concrete on the existing driveway by accident.... It was loaded at 10:18 and At arrived on job at 10:59 and at 12:16 we were walking on is as we were still pouring out. Do not feel comfortable paying for this concrete, would like money back. Complained August 3 complained again August 16 then also complained to the salesman and quality control on August 22. And so far the resolution has been no resolution

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/03) */ "SRM Concrete denies Mr. *******'s request for refund of products and services provided on August 3, 2022. In the attached mix-design, the highlighted portion shows the 2% retardant ordered by Mr. ******* was included in the concrete he received. All records indicate the heat index was between 98 and 100 on August 3rd in West Point, KY. Additionally, the humidity was below 60%. Even with the 2% retardant, in these conditions, we, and the NRMCA, would fully expect the concrete to begin curing after the 1.5 hours it took for Mr. ******* to finish the concrete. These conditions qualify for special finishing procedure outlined by the NRMCA's CIP Hot Weather Concreting. Rule number 6 states, "Begin final finishing operations as soon as the water sheen has left the surface; start curing as soon as finishing is completed." This procedure was not followed by Mr. ******* on August 3, 2022. It is on these grounds that SRM denies the request for refund."
