I signed up with DLDNation to get in shape. I was initially excited and they require I sign up for 12 months to get the life changing results that will stick. The first month in and I started to explain to my coach that I was gaining weight and very uncomfortable. She said that this is a part of the process and I should challenge my view of what is beautiful. I tried. Another month went by and I was still gaining. Feeling more and more uncomfortable. I expressed my discomfort and unhappy feeling for the direction we were going in and she said this is part of the process. So, I kept going. I then was on the organizations group chat when I started to notice many women saying the same thing. They were saying they were gaining a lot of weight and told it was normal. I started to panic. One women said she gained for a year before they would allow her to start losing. I then started to realize that this was not for me. I started at 143 lbs and am now at 151 lbs. my coach said we were only halfway through this process for me and it was on me to go buy new clothes and learn to feel comfortable with the weight. I told her this is not what I signed up for and no one explained this to me either. Plus, if they get me to gain for a year that means I have to sign up for another year! Not ok. So, I went to cancel and they are saying I have to pay 1/2 of the remaining year. I told them that doesn't make sense. If I am extremely unhappy with the program and it is not working for me why would I continue to be charged? They said that is the cancellation policy I signed. I did sign their policy but if they are not doing the job as I expected or setting me up to gain to now have to sign up longer... doesn't seem right. This seems like they have it set up to get your money even if the customer is unhappy.Business response

I am really sorry to hear you feel this way. Your satisfaction is incredibly important to us and I know we would have loved to find a way to make this work for you.
We understand reversing and maintaining can be challenging, but it is a necessary step in order to get to your end goal. When clients come to us and have a history of eating below their TDEE, we ethically cannot enter them into a caloric deficit, which could possibly lead to more internal health and hormone issues.
Our approach to coaching is science-based nutrition that prioritizes internal health first and foremost. With that in mind, we work with clients to reach their health + wellness goals as safely and sustainably as possible. I can promise you, we wish we could allow anyone that wishes to cut to do so, as it does not benefit us at all to withhold that from clients.
Again, I am sincerely sorry to hear you were not able to achieve your goals as quickly as you anticipated, but in our professional opinion we did not believe you were in a place to safely enter into a deficit and our goal was to get you to a safe place to do so.
