I hired the owner of this business to renovate my 4th floor which included installing a sliding glass door. This was completed in October 2021. It has not been a year yet and there has been water leak from the 4th floor down to the master bedroom on the 3rd floor. I have attempted to contact the person that installed the sliding glass door but he has not responded. I then contacted my general contractor (owner of St. Harlem Construction) but she could not contact the person she hired to instal the sliding glass door. I am asking her to take responsibility since she is in charge of the project. It cost me & 2846.40 to hire a separate company to fix the problem. It is revealed to me that the previous installer did not place screws where needed and that he had even cut off the head of a screw in a roller apparatus of the sliding door. They even cut off the water proof tape which was likely the cause of the leak down to the master bedroom. It has not even been one year and there is already a major problem with their work. I have asked the owner of St. Harlem Contractor to take responsibility for this without success. Would you please help me settle this? Thank you. Sincerely, Khoa Nguyen

      Case # ********

I was Hired by Khoa to complete a 4th floor buildout/Movie room, which also included overseeing a separate company “DJ Glass works” to install sliding glass doors. My Company completed the the Buildout in Sept. 2021(received finial payment for the Buildout portion of the project), but the other company “DJ Glass works” material was delayed and the owner of the Company “DJ” was not communicating with myself nor the Client. For the delay of the installation and the unprofessionalism of DJ’s company, I asked DJ to provide Khoa with a $600 discount.

Less than a week after the sliding glass doors were installed I received a text from Khoa saying the sliding doors would not lock, I told him I would stop by and I did (the same day). When I arrived another company was there tenting the sliding glass doors that “DJ’s Company” installed less than a week prior. I went to look at the issue the Khoa text me about and the other company that Khoa had there told both Khoa and I that he had removed certain parts of the sliding doors in order to put the tent onto the doors. (Hence why the doors were not locking) - I have video recording of the doors we installed being adjusted by another company.

Khoa apologized for having me come out for no reason and I left.

11 months later, I received two emails a week apart from Khoa stating that he needed DJ’s #, which I provided right away.

That’s when he stated that had already spoken to  DJ and DJ was supposed to come and look at the issue, but never showed up. He then wanted my company to pay for the damages and take responsibility.

My company did NOT installed the glass doors and “DJ Glass works” company did.

Also, Khoa never provided any proof. He never sent a photo or anything, not even an estimate. I went to file an Insurance claim with DJ’s insurance company since DJ was avoiding all calls and that’s when I was told by Khoa that he had already paid another company to fix the issue.

If any video and/or emails are needed please let me know.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
      Regards,

The problem I have with Aleece and her company is that she is the one who hires DJ to install the Glassdoor.  She was in charge with the entire project.  She hired someone who caused damage to my house and is now not taking responsibility for it.  The moment that I saw the damage, I texted and emailed her but she did not reply.  I also ask the person who recommended her but he also could not get in contact with her.  He also had problems at his house due to the work completed by her company.

Since I was unable to contact her, I had to ask one of her subcontractor to help me find DJ’s contact.  He helped me in finding DJ’s info on the website.  Initially, DJ was willing to come by to evaluate the problem but he never did.

Given how much damage the water has caused from the rain, I had to find someone who could fix the problem.  Hurricane season was approaching at that point.  Was I supposed to wait until Aleece respond to me?  I couldn’t risk having my house further damaged especially a hurricane season was approaching.

I emailed her on 8/12/22 without response from her.  I had to email her again on 8/18/22 for her to respond to me.  I even called and texted her with the phone number she used last year.  However, I later found out that she had changed her number

When GlassDoctor worker was fixing the problem, they found that most screw holes did not have any screws and that the person who cut out the wall for the glass door also cut the waterproof sheet membrane of the house.

Regarding the tint on the door, the person never had to remove any parts.  They literally just place a film over the glass.  I have included pictures of the door.  This company placed the films over the glass windows and other glass doors in my house.  These films would not cause the leak.  I would love to see the video to see what Aleece is talking about.

DJ later texted me after I filed a complaint against Aleece and after I had left a bad review for him.  He stated “Warranty work was not done as it was voided for non payment by your contractor”.

If Aleece is not responsible, then who should be responsible for this?  I paid her to be the person in charge of this project.  She was the one who picked DJ as the person to install the sliding glass doors.  She was the one who hired the person who cut out the wall for the sliding glass door who ended up cutting the waterproof sheet also.  She clearly hired people who did not know what they were doing.  The leak occurred less than 1 year after the glass door was installed.  As the person in charge of the project, she should take responsibility for it.  I am including the receipt of the cost to fix the leak.

I have take responsibility, if I would not have suggested DJ’s company for this project this may not have happened. I am very disappointed at the entire situation, however my company did not install the sliding glass doors.

I am willing to pay half of the invoice due to the inconvenience and the stress that it has caused the client.

Please let me know if that is agreeable.
