Amazing company, quality employees, and upfront about the process. Major kitchen renovation due to mold. After the mold was handled you are left with no kitchen. ******************************* my technician has made me feel at ease and was/is wonderful to work with.Review from Jennifer V

Amazing company! Great crew from the techs to the office staff. They were upfront with their process and fees right from the beginning. Tech was honest and professional. Will definitely refer people to them!!Review from Jason T

Buyer beware! This is an absolutely shady company. I had an accident and stepped through the ceiling from my attic. Nothing huge but I didn't have time to fix it. Called Mr. Handyman. They would NOT provide a quote over the phone. Said they would send someone out the next day. Great! Guy came out the next morning. I purchased all the supplies and even did the cut-away/demo work needed to provide a clean-edged section to replace. The technician was nice enough and very apologetic after he had to go out to the car and come back with a 5-hour, $800 quote for what was, arguably, 30 minutes of work (that's what it ended up taking me to do after I refused their quote). The kicker? They charged me a $90 "service fee" for, literally, 5 minutes. It's obvious what they do: they don't quote, they don't tell you about the service fee, and they don't "estimate": they look at a job, fill in a form ("a large hole needs to be patched"), and it spits out a # of hours. Horrible. Will NEVER call this company again for anything.Review from Terri d

Never using this "service" again! It was a mistake to call them out since we weren't satisfied with the quality of the first job they did for us. This time we had a gutter leak in one corner of our gutter on the second floor. They spent nearly 3 hours on my roof and charged me over $500 and the gutter still leaked. They claimed the don't warranty leaks which I understand but the initial technician didn't test for the leak or test his "fix". He convinced me there would be more issues if he just addressed my original problem-which I naively agree to. Then he spent 45 minutes at ********** getting "supplies" and 2 hours on my roof. When the leak remained I called and they told me they don't warranty leaks but would come out and initially offered to do additional repairs at a discounted rate. Since they didn't fix the original issue I battled over several emails for them to come out and actually DO the job I paid for. A new tech took about 20 minutes to put a ladder up against my house and take pictures of the leak that the first guy quite obviously didn't fix, then go to his truck, get sealant out of it and put it on the original unsealed gutter crack. The initial guy dinked around on my roof allegedly checking the rest of the gutters then dumped some sealant in the corner where the leak was but never check to see if he actually hit the crack, or run water in it to see if he fixed the issue. The office's excuse was "he came at it from a different angle" but they had no excuse for the fact that he never tested to see if he had actually fixed the problem. I requested a refund of at least an hour of the time he spent on my roof and they acted like they did me a favor by sending another person to fix my gutter for "free". What a load of c*** Totally ripped me off. We will never hire them again and will recommend anyone I know to avoid doing business with them. They intentionally try to add additional time to a simple job to make as much money off you as they can.Review from Marielos G

I hired Mr. Handyman of Dallas to install trim around my bathroom and hall. The company charged me for 3 hours. I paid the pro with a check. When he left, I inspected the work, and it was not done completely or satisfactorily. I put a stop payment on the check. A male from the company called me twice to threaten me to put a lien on my house. I told him that I would release the hold when the company complete the job hired to do. The person told me that he was not going to send anyone over, and that the work was done. Later in the week, he called to threaten to put an arrest warrant in Dallas and Collin Counties for check fraud. I would like to put pictures, but there is no place to do it. Pictures speak louder than words.Mr. Handyman of Dallas Response

The information submitted to the BBB by ******** ***** is completely false.
******** ***** called our office on May 19 and setup the initial service call for May 20. At the time of the service call, the Mr. Handyman Service Technician inspected the work that needed to be completed and presented her with a written estimate which she signed/approved immediately.
Once the estimate was approved the work was scheduled to be completed the same day, May 20. At that time, the Mr. Handyman Service Technician presented ******** ***** with a work order and she signed/approved it immediately. The work order signature field clearly stated ... "Customer has read and accepts the Work Agreement and has discussed with the Mr. Handyman Technician the work to be completed and authorizes Mr. Handyman to begin work".
The work was completed that same day, May 20. At that time, after the work was completed, the Mr. Handyman Service Technician presented ******** ***** with the work order completion form and she signed/approved it immediately. The work order completion signature field clearly stated ... "I hereby acknowledge the satisfactory completion of the above-described work and services".
Also, with the Mr. Handyman Service Technician present, ******** ***** wrote check #*** from an account at Wells Fargo and used it as full/final payment for the work that was performed. That same day, May 20, ******** ***** cancelled the check with Wells Fargo. On May 24, our bank notified us that the check had been cancelled and it was returned to our office a few days later. At that time, we began the communication process to determine why she stopped payment on the check.
In late May and June, we made numerous attempts to speak to ******** ***** via telephone. Also, my Accounting Manager sent an email to her on May 31 which stated ... "Hello ********, if you are dissatisfied with the work, please call us. The amount on the invoice is still owed. Please find your invoice from Mr. Handyman of the Park Cities attached below. If you have any questions regarding this invoice or would like to book future services, please give our office a call at (972) 866-7777".
That same day, May 31, ******** ***** answered a phone call from my Accounting Manager and hung-up when asked why she stopped payment on the check. A Customer Service Representative called ******** ***** on June 6 and left a message. Another member of my team contacted ******** ***** on July 2 and she said "I am refusing to pay this bill."
I have spoken to ******** ***** three times in two weeks. On July 2, I also called ******** ***** and I introduced myself, told her that I was the Owner and General Manager at Mr. Handyman, why I was calling and requested that she pay the invoice. I told her that I would begin the legal / collection(s) process on July 5 if the account had not been paid in full. I called her on July 5 to inquire about the unpaid invoice and told her I would initiate the legal / collection(s) process if she still refused to pay. She did not state that she was going to pay the invoice and she did not state that she was dissatisfied with the work.
We heard nothing from her during the week of July 5-8 and we did not receive payment.
On Monday, July 11, I contacted the District Attorney in Collin County and my Corporate Counsel to begin the legal / collection(s) process. I then called ******** ***** one last time to let her know that the legal / collection(s) process had begun.
At no point during any of these phone calls did ******** ***** inform me or anyone on my team that there was a problem with the quality of the work. Furthermore, ******** ***** never replied to any of the emails that were sent informing us that there was a problem with the quality of the work, let alone submit photos for us to review.
However, after being threatened with legal action, on July 11, ******** ***** submitted a poor (1-Star) review via Google and on July 12, ******** ***** submitted a poor (1-Star) review via the BBB.
Again, at no point in the prior two months had ******** ***** ever stated to anyone on my team that there was an issue with the quality of the work, nor has she responded to any emails or submitted any photos to me, my office manager or my customer service team.
We have referred this to our Corporate Counsel and the legal proceedings have begun. Sadly, this is yet another example of "Theft of Services" (i.e. "Theft by Check") which will be addressed by the District Attorney in Collin County. Also, we will file a lien on this property by the end of the week.
