I would like to complain about Denton Municipal Utilities Company (***) for its incorrect billing and poor business practices.I requested a utility connection for my investment property from the *** company on 04/02/2023. My property was vacant and locked at that time. They sent a technician to the property on 04/03/23 to initiate the utility connection. As soon as the technician turned on the water, he noticed that the water meter was running. Due to the fact that no one was present to confirm whether the taps were on or off, he did not turn on the water that day. I was contacted by the *** representative who informed me that someone would need to be present on the property in order to begin water service.I flew to ****** on 04/04/2023 from *************, **, and scheduled the utilities company's technician visit for 04/05/2023. He confirmed that there was no leak and I confirmed that all taps were turned off, however, he was unable to determine why the meter was running. He then suspected that the meter was faulty.Due to the fact that the property is vacant, I expected them to charge me minimum charges. I had utilities connected for 23 days. During these 23 days, they disconnected the power without my knowledge. I learned about it when my technician visited the property for planned maintenance on 4/20/2023 so I called the utility company customer support to check. She confirmed that the power was disconnected by mistake and I was shocked to hear that! A $100 appointment rescheduling fee was charged to me since the technician could not handle the maintenance request that day due to a power outage.*** billed me $90.91 for 23 days. I expected minimal charges since the property was vacant so I complained about the bill. I also brought to their attention the faulty water meter. In response to my complaint about the bill, their customer support team responded that they found no issue with the water line. However, they had no explanation for why the meter was running despite no water usage.Despite the property being vacant, the utility company has billed me $68.20 for water (including water, wastewater, sewage, and solid waste) and $22.71 for electricity. Furthermore, the power was disconnected by mistake, but I was still billed for those days. The second bill I received on 5/23 shows that the electricity bill for the period 04/18/2023 - 04/26/2023 has been increased from $2.31 to $7.33. Please note that the electricity was disconnected during this time and restored on 4/21/2023. How can the power bill go up in the regenerated bill? These pieces of evidence indicate that this utility company does not follow best business practices, resulting in inaccurate billing. They have no explanation as to why the water meter has been running even when there is no water consumption or why the power bill has increased despite the power having been disconnected. They should waive 100% of these faulty charges and refund me the $100 I paid my technician to reschedule the appointment.

I called in to have my lights canceled and they didn't do it. Now they are saying I'm being charged for 5 days of service I didn't use and 30 dollars to cancel it today as a same day cancelation.
