I was hospitalized last October, and with any medical issue comes the fun of medical billing. Sometime in November I set up automatic payments for the bill I had with ******* ********* ********** through their billing entity Radiology Partners Management Group. I’ve been paying ~$130 every month since then. Today, I received a final notice statement threatening to send me to collections if I didn’t make right with my account/debt. As I’ve not interfaced with them in any way since setting up my automatic payments (and nothing on my end changed; same address, same valid card, etc.), this was jarring; I called them immediately. Over the phone, I was told a number of things that make 0 sense: - The payment plan has to be renewed every 3 months --- This is not disclosed anywhere on their website (which allows for payment plans beyond 3 months) or mailers, nor has it been brought up to me previously; I suspect this is outright false - The payment for August wasn’t received --- As nothing on my end has changed (and I neither received nor initiated any communication with the company about the payment or it failing) there’s no reason for this - It was a system glitch --- If true, I’m a textbook case for “this should never have happened” and indicative, to me, that a systemic issue exists in their software and/or processes for identifying/correcting flagrant errors on their end before threatening customers with collections and credit damage After speaking with a customer service representative and fixing the payment plan on my account, I was emphatic that this issue be brought to the appropriate people so corrective actions could be taken; I have zero confidence, presently, that the issue will reach the necessary individual(s) that can identify/correct the underlying cause(s) and prevent this from occurring to others. I've included the mailer that arrived today (with redacted PII) and am available via phone and/or email to discuss this situation further if need be.
