Description of Job:Replace cast iron for PVC schedule 40. Approximately 40ft of tunnel.Trench approximately 50ft. Install 1 double clean out. Tunneling & backfill Replace approximately 45ft of main water supply line. Install shut off valve.Replace & relocate 50 gal gas water heater. Relocate dryer gas supply line.Pur. Date - 11/15/2022 Tot: $12,435.00 Reason For Late Complaint:There were so many issues with work done by this company, I wanted to ensure that the main job (sewer replacement) did not fail. Issues: Many jobs were not done to city code requirements. Vent for gas water heater was installed with a downward airflow. This improper installation is not only unsafe, but caused the water heater to not vent properly and melted areas of the top of my brand new water heater. Further, during the job, my water heater was stored in the garage near tunneling work. A digger hosed out my garage, completely flooding the inside of my brand new water heater. I have pictures of the damage. Contract included replacement of ALL cast iron including front of house to city drain. They did not replace this. Further, a cast iron drain in the center of the house was not replaced at all. I called ***** back to ask if he replaced it. He admitted that he didn't, and it was his executive decision to leave it alone! He did not consult me about the decision to leave the old drain, which literally drained directly into the mud after sewer replacement! A sinkhole just outside my home's foundation exists prove it. To reconcile, he came back and connected the cast iron to the new PVC drain, but as the bill described, "all cast iron was to be replaced," which it is not. I'm out of characters for this input field, but there are still many more issues. After his third return to fix other issues and creating even more issues, I will not allow him back. I would like the job to be refunded or partially refunded, but I'm sure that is a dream. This man, should not being doing business.Business response

First of all, in our contract it does not say replace all cast iron & the reason is because in most cases some of the drain lines are in the middle of a concrete grade beam & we cannot damage the beam. So this is a normal procedure to attach new PVC with existing cast iron pipe that is in the middle of a beam & this is done so we do not damage the integrity of the foundation. **** said when he called us back we went back and make sure that the existing pipe (that s he is talking about was connected to the sewer line) and we showed him. We also went back to fix the water heater issue he is talking about. We went to fix whatever he was not happy with & we did it without charge to him. We did it as a curtesy even though he did not have any warranty. We did this job back in November 2022 & we have not heard back from him until now and that's why we assumed that everything was working fine .Otherwise he would of had this complain 2 years ago. This does not make sense to us. It looks like he is just trying to get the work that was done for free. We did everything that was on our hands to make him happy after over 2 years it does not make any sense. FYI this we have been in business over 15years and this is our first complaint. My home was purchased on 02/13/2019, with a "Lifetime Warranty" for foundation work completed by Quality Foundation Repair (QFR). I emailed QFR to transfer the foundation repair warranty to me from the previous homeowner on 03/22/2019 (37 days from the date of purchase). QFR responded stating their company policy to transfer a warranty is 30 days. The document I have in my possession (and provided with this complaint) states not that the aforementioned warranty is required or must be transferred within 30 days of purchase, but "should" be transferred. The words used within the warranty document misled me to believe that the warranty could still be transferred on the date I requested the warranty transfer, and future foundation work would be covered by QFR. A BBB complaint seeking a resolution would have been filed sooner, but QFR was not accredited by the BBB until 234 days after the warranty transfer was denied.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/17) */ *******, thank you for reaching out. We have gone ahead and reviewed your document. As stated in the warranty " New owner should call to transfer the warranty, no later than 30 days from the purchase". We will honor any warranty transfer 30 days from the home purchase, but after the 30 day "grace" period is over we can no longer help you. I see you reached out 37 days after the home was purchased, which is in fact over the 30-day period. Due to the facts, we can no longer honor the warranty, as a result of not calling or emailing QFR withing the 30 days.
