This company is taking money out of my account for a policy I never signed on for. I never even received paperwork in the mail about a policy. On addition I do have a policy with mutual of Omaha and this other company is using a portion of my mutual of Omaha policy they have been taking out since November. The lady aty bank said she had another customer who hasd the same thing happening.my bank gave me their phone number but that was for globe life insurance so globe life said it was them or any part of their other companies so they gave me another number for occidental. And that wasn't them either it was Sage insuranceBusiness response

Our records indicate *************** called our office today where we explained her policy to her in detail. Per her request, we are mailing a Lost Policy Form and a form to change the beneficiary.
This is $15,000 NorthStar Legacy whole life insurance policy that was issued November 18, 2023. A recording of **************** agreeing to the policy is available and can be sent to her if she requests it.Initial Complaint

I was with this insurance company for over 30 years. They notified me in November of 2023 and said that my insurance will increase to $164.00 monthly from $33 monthly, for a ******* policy (Term). I asked why and they said the 30 years is up, so they said December will be my last coverage for that policy. So, I told them I feel like that is too much and I will be looking around for a better price with the same amount of coverage. That is what I did, and I got insurance with their sister company for $120.00 monthly for a $******* policy. I called them on the 12th of December, 2023 and said I have coverage, don't draft my account anymore. They drafted my account on December 19, 2023 and it came right out. The agreement I had with them was $33 on the 15th of each month. I called them and asked why you drafted my account , because I never agreed to $167.00 let alone the amount that they took. I told them I am good at closing my account, so you can't draft my account again and put my money back into my account. I called weekly asking for my money and told them to send a check and they have done everything but sent me my check. I had to fill out a closing my account form, they sent me my tax paper, they email me another close my account form, and a letter that states they will be drafting my account on the 15th of January ****.Business response

The policy has been cancelled as of December 15, 2023. A refund of $172.35 has been sent directly to your bank account and should be in your account by Tuesday. There will be no further drafts to your bank account.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Yes, it is in my bank account. That is good enough for me.

Agent *************************** contacted my mom and uncle to change to a new policy which they did. He did not explain to them that the policy had a two year contestability period. My mom would not have changed. He also told her how to answer the medical questions which the first one was about oxygen which she was wearing when answering these questions which the question said it you answer yes you are not insurable. This company needs to do better with their agents and take responsibility for their agents. I needed that money to bury my mother and that is the reason she took out this policy so I would not have to worry about burying her.Business response

Ins. Agent, *********************** came to my apartment in August 2022 in reply to an ad for Final Expenses insurance. He spoke to my daughter and I.He offered me a policy for $20,000 and my daughter *************************, was offered a policy for $40,000. Both policies would cost $40 a month each. I was elated when he made a phone call to the company and we were both accepted. He requested two voided checks which I gave him. I received the filled out policies on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022.I was in shock when I looked over the completed policies. My policy was for $10,000 not $20,000. My daughter's policy was for $20,000 not $40,000. The cost of my monthly payment was $128.72 not $40.My daughter's policy was $78.00 not $40. Premium rates on a life insurance policy are based on age, ***, tobacco use, health and amount of coverage. Based on the insureds information, we are unable to issue a policy for $20,000 and $40.00 monthly premium. Because the policy was not what ************** wanted, the policy was cancelled as of the original issue date. The last draft will be refunded once it clears the normal banking channels. The agent that came to sell us this policy lied. I was told this policy would cover illness and injury should my father be unable to work. My father is the policy holder and the policy was to cover payments of his mortgage in case he is unable to work. Upon attempting to file a claim it was discovered that this was only a life insurance policy that does not cover any of the items as discussed with the initial agent.Business response

I applied for life insurance with Occidental Life Insurance of North Carolina around the 17th or 18th of May. The following day I got a quote from Fidelity Life that was $20 cheaper and tried to call Occidental three times and left a message each time that I wanted to cancel my policy but they never called back. I went to my bank today to see if they could help me with keeping Occidental from drawing $50.66 from my account. I gave them the phone number and name of the agent I spoke and they couldn't match the number to the company and found out that this company works out of ***** instead of North Carolina. Occidental even tried a trial attempt to withdraw money from my account of $0.00. I got my account number changed today because the bank is saying it's a scam. Just thought you should be aware of this so that other people can be wary of them.Business response

*************************** applied for and was issued a $5,000 Senior Choice whole life insurance policy that was issued June 1, 2022 with Occidental *********** of ** located here in **** **. We are not a scam and do not do business in *****. On May 20, 2022, Nigel ************************** the writing agent, spoke with one of our Client Experience representatives through our web site regarding the cancellation of this policy. The automatic bank draft was stopped and instructions were provided for agent to email a request for processing. On May 23, 2022, we received the email from Mr. *************** requesting the application be withdrawal the application that **************** no longer wanted to continue the policy. The policy was cancelled and confirmation was mailed May 26,2022. No premiums were received.Initial Complaint

When I signed up for this "policy" I was told I would receive my first years premiums back after the 1 st year, never did... I just now canceled the policy as I've changed employers and I had a cash value of the policy at cancelation according to the online account, they have said there was "No Cash Surrender value"... I think this "Company" is a scam.Business response

************ applied for and was issued a Capital Legacy, 10 Year Modified Premium and Decreasing Term Life insurance plan. She selected the Flex Annuity Plus *************** as her cash accumulation option. This policy was issued March 5, 2020. Enclosed is a copy of the signed application and Statement of Understanding that breaks down the terms and provisions of the life insurance and the annuity products she was applying for. The policy contract was also mailed directly to *********** when the policy was issued.
March 28, 2022, we received a completed Policy Cancellation Form to cancel policy 005386917E, the life insurance. This was processed and confirmation was mailed. Policy 005386917F, the *************** is still active at this time and currently is holding a balance of $827.08 that is ************** funds. If ************ no longer wants to keep the ***************, she will need to contact us or complete and return the Policy Cancellation form that was mailed to her March 31, 2022.Customer response
