On 7/17 (102) our A/C stopped working. We scheduled an appointment with Total Home Services of Utah for someone to come between 8 and noon. ****** arrived at 11:09am. He cleaned our condenser coils, replaced the capacitor and the A/C started blowing cool air again. He charged us $487.65 and we paid because how were we supposed to know that he was charging us well over market rates? And hooray for cool air! He left 52 minutes after arriving and the A/C stopped working. He came back at 4:38 and said it couldnt be fixed but he would be willing to apply the $500 wed already spent toward a new A/C if we bought it from them. We wanted a second opinion before having to finance $7,000. The second repairman came the next day and instantly told us why it wasnt working. Get readythere is a button that needs to be pushed. He pushed it and we have had working A/C for the past four days. Given the fact that all ****** had to do was push a button to fix the A/C and didnt, and then tried to offer us a deal on a $7,500 A/C, I called several local HVAC companies to see what they normally charge for the services ****** performed. We were charged twice as much as the rates we were given. We contacted the company to kindly ask for a refund as at best, they sent someone without the expertise needed to do the job or at worst, they deliberately overcharged us and lied about not being able to fix it so we would buy a new A/C from them as we were likely to do since we already paid them $500. We also expressed concern that their prices were much more than market rates. The service manager, responded by saying that our A/C unit is very old and isnt efficient, that he called a representative at the manufacturer and they told him there are no buttons in their units, that all they did was charge us retail prices for the services performed and gave estimates for replacing our A/C because he could see that it is no longer preforming to its full potential.Review from Jia Z

As a homeowner, it is extremely important to have reliable and professional service providers to maintain and repair essential household equipment. Unfortunately, my experience with Total Home Services of Utah for furnace repair was anything but satisfactory. I feel compelled to share my experience to warn potential customers about the poor service and unprofessionalism displayed by this company.Ineffectual Repair Attempts: Over the course of three separate visits, the technician was unable to fix our furnace. First, he changed the sensor but it didn't solve the problem. Then, he attributed the issue to our ****** Nest thermostat. We went through the trouble of switching to a Honeywell thermostat, only to find that the problem persisted.Disrespect for Customer's Time: The technician had no problem keeping us waiting for up to 4 hours during scheduled appointments, yet he refused to wait for us for just 2 more minutes when we were running late. Instead of calling to notify us, he simply left, forcing us to take time off work and rush home for nothing.Negative Attitude and Indifference: The customer ********************** representative we dealt with was unhelpful. It seemed as if the company as a whole didn't care about our experience or concerns. They were content to leave us without a working furnace for the entire winter, offering only to schedule more appointments when it was convenient for them.Lack of Accountability: We've been left feeling frustrated and helpless, as there's no apparent way to escalate the issue or receive any resolution from Total Home Services of Utah. I strongly advise against using Total Home Services of Utah, at least for furnace repairs. Our experience has been marked by unprofessionalism, poor service, and a complete lack of care for the customer's needs. We are still without a functioning furnace and have yet to receive any acknowledgement or solution from this company.Review from Yosari F.

We received this work order from **************** while she was still under her warranty. That warranty expired on 12/6/2022. We were still happy to complete the repairs on her washer once the parts arrived. She was also asking for repairs to be done on her dryer. Unfortunately, because this request was made by her (we never got any work order from GE) we let her know that it would be a service fee since it no longer has a warranty on it based on HER purchase date. She called our office numerous times about that specific issue. We have all explained to her that until we have a work order from her warranty company that clearly states she is being offered a warranty exception because her warranty has been expired. She has yelled and argued with our dispatcher several times when this process was explained to her and also explained to her that we are following our contract with her manufacturer warranty. When she didn't get the answers she wanted after screaming and yelling at our dispatcher, she was transferred a manager, ******. He also reiterated what was explained to her by the dispatcher several times. She still wasn't accepting the answer and was expecting free service even though she was outside of her warranty period. She got very upset with him as well and was yelling so loud she could be heard from across the hall and she was not on speaker. She got even more upset when he refused to give out the phone number for our CEO. She was not threatened in any way. She was simply told that she had 2 options, get us a work order from her warranty stating it was covered or pay for the services as we do not provide free service (nor does anyone else that wants to stay in business). Due to the harassments our office has had to deal with on several occasions, we have placed her on our do not service list. We are also flabbergasted at how she would treat our staff simply because she felt she was entitled to free services after her warranty had expired.Customer Response

This are complete lies!!! I even provided the service tickets regarding my appliances. And I requested for the calls to be listened to but ****** refused. If they can provide that evidence it will be clear who is lying and who isnt. I dont care to be serviced by a company who threatens customers and at no point did they do any free service or was I ever trying to get a free service unfortunately GE sent me to them and I completely regret it and have a professional company coming to take a look at it because it the service ticket was opened prior to the expiration date. This company is super unreliable, unprofessional and all I received from them has headaches and for ****** to threaten me and as you see in the comments he followed through. He didnt care about the customer and he only and did prove his POWER like he said. Just listen to the call. Let me guess that wont be possible because he did indeed threaten me and now I am in a blacklist, another power move on his end.Review from DAVID G

Very poor ethics. The service was more of a check it out and say to expensive to fix (replace it all), and leaves. 3 months later I get a letter from a collection agency saying I owe them the $60 fee for the service plus $24 for fees. I call Total Home and they tell me I should have paid the service guy. I say he never asked for money. They say there is nothing they can do since they already sent it to collections. So Total Home never asked for the money and didn't sent or email any bills.... but sends to collection agency. I have the one email they sent which they cant find a replacement board... it has no cost or line items.Total Home Services of Utah Inc. Response

We received this customers information from his home warranty company. All homeowners are fully aware they have a copay when they place a work order with their warranty. We did call him several times as well as sent several email invoices to try and get him to pay the copay of $60 that he was aware he had to pay. He did not return any calls or emails. It wasn't until we were left no choice but to send it to collections about 3 months later that we heard from him and he was very upset. We provided a service to him through his home warranty company of which he requested and he did not pay for his part of the service.
