After signing my lease that included a pet lease as well my dog died before my lease took place when I called to informed them I was not bringing a dog They still made me pay the $500 non refundable pet fee. They then tried collecting a monthly pet rent however upon a home inspection they removed the monthly pet rent. They conducted a semi annual inspection and claim they found 2 dogs. They cannot provide evidence that theres dogs in my unit as I dont have any pets but they still want me to pay $1000.

Lived in a unit managed buy TEC and recently vacated on good terms. One month after vacating the property, I received a "Security Deposit Disposition". On said form, I was informed of a $250 cleaning bill for "Unit Cleaning Pursuant to cleaning list", which for reference, I had used as a guideline when performing said cleaning. Attached to this Disposition was a letter informing me that I had 15 days to pay said balance or face a collection agency plus a 33% fee. The same letter instructed that should I have any questions, they must be in writing and directed to "leasing@tecmgmt.net" as that would be the only acceptable way of correspondence. I wrote the above address (9/3) asking for clarification on the cleaning performed and asked which items were inadequately cleaned before making a payment. They made no attempt to respond to my questions, even though I used the required communication channel. I then reached out again around a week later (9/13) and was again ignored. They chose to simply wait out the clock on the 15 days to intimidate me into paying this amount under the implied threat of damage to my credit through collections. Ironically, I would have likely paid the amount regardless of their reply, had they taken the time to respond at all. Frankly, it's a very unethical way to conduct business and it should be addressed.

My apologies for the confusion. I'm not sure how I missed this request but  will get the cleaning invoice sent out first thing tomorrow.

      Good afternoon.

Our apologies for the inconvenience. The property was in transition of being sold at the time the resident was moving in. We at TEC management have no access to the residents account to make any adjustments. The new owners should be completing the DNA test as lined out in the lease agreement. If not the new management company Greystar would be the one to refund the testing fee. My suggestion would be to contact the current management company Greystar as they would be able to assist you.

I am rejecting this response because:
I have gone to the new management company and they said that they do not do the *** testing.

Please refund the money that I paid for the *** test.
      Sincerely,

We understand the residents frustration, However the new owners are responsible to refund any monies collected or render the service. We as a management company have no access to any information on previous residents once  a property  is sold or under new management. Our sincere apologies, We will do our best to work with the current management company to help resolve them issue.

I am rejecting this response because: TEC was the one that I paid and they took the money and did not give the new management the money so they are responsible for issuing my refund. TEC took the money in December and didn't lete know or anybody else for that matter that they were changing management companies. This is fraud and TEC needs to refund my money!

      Sincerely,

We were living in this property for 3 years that was owned by a private landlord. TEC Management took over the property in May 2022. We were told by the landlord that we would receive our deposit back as long as the property was in the condition we moved in. We hired cleaners and patched our own holes and painted the walls. The only thing we didn’t do was clean the carpets which we were okay with letting them hire a professional carpet cleaner. TEC Management charged a $350 cleaning fee. The home was already cleaned. The pictures we took when moving out match the same picture they took on their rental listing. There was no cleaning that needed to be done. And again, we were told we’d get our full deposit back.
