On 10/20/2022, my ten-year-old son was assaulted by another student. He was bleeding from his nose after another student punched him in front of the instructor. They took my son to the bathroom and washed his nose. I was never informed, and the bleeding was visible on the surrounding of his nose, along with a visibly swollen face. When I went to pick it up, no one from the management approached me to explain the situation; I only found out when I asked him why there were spots of blood on his face and a paper towel full of blood in his hand. He told me that someone assaulted him, then when I asked the instructor (Master **) what happened, who was not present during the incident, he told me it was an accident but didn't provide any more explanation, not even "I am sorry that it happened." They didn't give him proper medical attention or didn't even bother calling me/my wife to say that he needed medical attention because he was bleeding. After taking him to the local "Patient first" primary care facility, the x-ray clearly shows soft tissue damage. The contusion is not consistent with an accident. The management of USTMA abused my child by not having his guardian/parents present during whatever medical procedure they used to clean him up. They didn't show any remorse or responsibility for the incident. The absence of rumors and empathy indicates my child is no longer safe in that environment.Business response

Please accept this letter as our response to the complaint initiated by *** ******* ******.
These are the events that transpired on October 20, 2022 at U.S. Taekwondo from our viewpoint. Master Alessandra C*** told the instructors in class to play a game of tiger tag with the students for a few minutes before class ended. Tiger tag is a game that is often played by the students at our Academy and is like a combination of classic tag and leapfrog. During this game, a young student jumped in between *** ******’s son (***.) and another student to avoid being tagged and accidentally hit ***. in the nose.
An instructor supervising the game offered ***. ice for his nose, which he refused. A leadership team member then took ***. to the restroom to check for a nosebleed, however, he did not see evidence of an active nosebleed. ***. then came to the front lobby and upon wiping his nose there was a small amount of blood, which was taken care of with toilet paper and paper towels by our front desk staff.
After his nosebleed was taken care of ***. waited in the front lobby with our front desk staff, Master Alessandra C***, and another instructor until pick up. *** ****** spoke with Master Alessandra to get a clear picture of what occurred. *** ****** seemingly understood what had transpired and left with no further questions or complaints.
Please see the attached copy of our liability waiver. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Grand Master Eung *** C***

In response to Complaint ID ******** ******* ******
Please accept this letter as our response to the complaint initiated by *** ******* ****** (in regards to him rejecting our response).
We stand by the facts stated in our previous response on November 5, 2022. During the last five to ten minutes of class, if the students work hard and have focus we allow them to play supervised, organized games, which we did on October 20, 2022 when another student accidentally hit *** *’s son in the nose. We did not call *** * regarding the accident as it occurred at the end of the class session and we were under the assumption *** * would arrive at the building a few minutes later to pick him up.
Upon *** *’s arrival to our facility his son informed him of what happened during the game, after this *** * came to speak with Master Alessandra C*** to receive clarification as to how the accident occurred.
We understand *** * is concerned as to how an injury can be sustained from an accident; however, our instructors and staff followed all necessary steps to provide basic first aid for ***.’s injury.
In our previous response on November 5, 2022, we stated the facts as they occurred; we did not invalidate *** *’s complaint or the medical advice he received from his doctor.
USTMA informed *** * that he should contact our billing company to discuss canceling the contract per the agreed to terms and conditions. As of 28 November 2022, he appears to have made no attempt to cancel the contract based upon our discussion with our billing company. We, however, will advise our billing company to cancel the contract as soon as possible, and further request that *** * and his family refrain from participating in any future USTMA activities or returning to our school locations.
Sincerely,
Grand Master Eung *** C***

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:The information I got from them regarding billing company was unclear. Master ** told me that they are being handled by another company, but when I asked for the details she refused to share the billing company contact information. Moreover, my contract is with USTMA why should I contact their billing company. It's their responsibility to contact their billing/servicing company and let them know that the contract between me and USTMA has been terminated. The management of USTMA is just being absurd. It's strange that they thought I would come to pick up my son anyways; so they just ignored him and let him be in pain and shaken up, they just simply didn't care. It clearly shows how responsible they are.
Regards,
