Blossman Gas has proven to be far from trustworthy and as such, we've canceled our service agreement. This decision began about 18 months ago when we felt our home's gas fireplace was old and inefficient. At which time, we shut off the line to it, and the pilot light, thus ceasing to burn gas. However, since then, Blossman Gas would still come by and instead of arriving to fill our 75-gallon tank, finding that it's full, or not needing any gas, they'd leave us with a mysterious bill that we'd have no recourse or a way to dispute. I've communicated with them asking how it is a sealed steel tank they claim cannot leak and could take in as much gas as often as they charged us for. I got the "pilot light answer" and I'm sure they're well-versed in this as their business is a sham for neighborhoods they view as having money to burn, such as ours. I don't mind paying my bills but I DO MIND being taken as a fool. After challenging the bills, my wife and I chose to stop fighting this horrible company and had to wait over two months for them to come by to pick up their tank. Of course, we had to pay three months of finance fees for the bill being late as well as the tank fees which I felt were egregious under the circumstances. **************** is clearly not part of their company/employee manuals. As they picked up an entirely full tank, one would think we'd get one heck of a credit back... of course, that wasn't the case. My wife and I do not want negative marks on our credit so not paying this bill isn't going to happen. On the other hand, I feel by paying, it's an acceptance of this outcome and, I have a BIG problem with it. I cannot believe this is how Blossman chooses to operate. Filling full tanks with arbitrary amounts of gas and leaving bills behind where the customer has no way of arguing or confirming they're getting what they're paying for is ludicrous and frankly, the perfect crime! I worry about my elderly neighbors who are truly being vicimized.Business response

RE: Case number 19493750
We at Blossman Gas, *********, ** value all our customers by showing Honesty, Integrity, Compassion and Respect for others. We have a Commitment to Excellence, Commitment to our Team and We show Accountability for our actions with SAFETY as our priority. Blossman Gas delivers propane to Leased tanks at least once per year so that we may inspect the tanks. Not only does Blossman deliver propane as necessary upon use, we have a service department that installs propane tanks and gas lines, services propane appliances and makes recommendations to our customers for continued use.
We apologize to ************** and his family for having a rough experience with Blossman Gas, *********, **, as we strive to provide excellent customer service while obtaining to the guidelines set forth by our company.
************** had signed a leased agreement approximately 10/22/17, to install a 300lb cylinder which is a 90-gallon propane tank. The tank is considered full at 80% capacity, which is 72-gallons. When propane was delivered on 09/14/2022, for **** gallons, we left a ticket for the ***** residence for proof of delivery. The payment was due 30-days later, in agreement to his signed application of service. No payment was received by the due date, thus generating a finance charge for late payment for several months. Upon delivery, our drivers inspect the tanks for safety as well as check for any leaks on the outside propane system.
After inspection of the tank on 09/14/2022, we learned the tank needed to be re-certified, which we recertified the tank on 10/20/22. Sometime between 11/10/22 through 11/14/22, the Bakers called to have the tank locked off for reasons of moving out in the Spring. We scheduled ************** to return on 11/25/22 to pick up the 300lb tank. Since we found the tank full, and the technician was not able to pick up the tank by himself safely, we rescheduled the job to have (2) men pick up the tank as our schedule permitted. On 01/31/23, we picked up the tank with (2) men.
Our technicians noted the tank was at 60%, equivalent to 54-gallons of propane to be returned to the customer.
According to the lease agreement that is signed by **************, we provided a refund of 27-gallons and charged a reduced pick-up fee. If the customer has not retained a copy of his lease, we are more than happy to provide to him a copy of his signed agreement(s) and any invoices for his records.
Thank you for choosing Blossman Gas! Enjoy today!

Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowAs I stated, with the pilot light off for almost a year on the only device the tank supported ******** fireplace) and the tank valve shut, I'm still unclear how Blossman was able to come deliver gas the most recent delivery, if not the one prior to this when the gas wasn't being utilized. I wasn't expecting any financial restitution from this complaint. More of an exposures of poor business / customer service practices. Heck the late fees tied to their inability to remove their tank alone is comical. I'll drop this but rest assured, I will never be a Blossman customer again and I LOVE using gas.
I thank you for the time and effort put into this by BBB. This needs to be known as I'm sure I'm not the only one being taken advantage of by these tanks with no ability to measure volume/usage. The customer is at the mercy of the providers' ethics and honesty here; something I believe Blossman is taking advantage of, because they can.
Regards,
