I contracted with Protech (aka *******************) for some exterior painting work at my vacation home in *****, **. ***** claimed to be an expert in exterior painting and was happy to take the $9k deposit for that work. We had a written contract for that work. While we were planning the job and waiting for good weather, ***** also proposed doing a new deck on the home. I had no reason to suspect anything, so I wrote another check for a deposit on the deck for $24k. So, ***** had accepted a total of $33k from me for painting and a new deck. ***** cut corners at every turn on the painting. He painted in sub-freezing temps, he never sanded, never primed. He never cleaned the existing surface, so his first coat simply flaked or bubbled off. On top of that, he took 5 MONTHs to do that poor quality work. I was so upset with ***** by Sept, I confirmed that he had not spent the deck deposit ($24k) on materials, cancelled that work and asked for the money back. He said he didn't have the money. I insisted on a check, and that check bounced. He never replaced the check. ***** never returned my deck deposit and is trying to say he should keep it.Furthermore, through my Ring cameras, I witnessed Protech employees breaking every conceivable safety regulation in the **** book...including SHOOTING HEROINE on job. His employees were doing intravenous drugs and then climbing onto my roof to paint with no safety mechanisms of any kind. And, in at least one case, they fell and were very lucky not to be seriously injured. I have photos of syringes and drugs baggies to prove this.Protech should be investigated and shut down.Customer response
