We purchased a 2014 Dodge Ram with 93,000 miles on 1/5/2022. We were told from our sales person ***** that the vehicle was in good condition and always kept up do to it being a leased vehicle. He also advised us Summit Auto had an upstanding name and would work with us if anything went wrong with the vehicle. We provided Summit Automotive with a $26,000 check to purchase the Dodge Ram. On 1/22/23 the engine went completely out and we did not purchase the extended warranty. Summit originally was asking for about 11,200 for a used engine although to help us out they said they would drop the price to $10,000. In addition they would be more then happy to give us 7,000 for the truck as a trade in. Please see attached for repairs made to the truck prior to them selling this to us and not disclosing to us any of these issues. Oh and the vehicle now has 106,000 miles. At this time we are waiting for **** to return our call to see if there anything else his team can do for us. In addition none of this was mentioned to us on the car fax they provided to us.Customer response

Have you received a response from Summit? I also had a second estimate completed and the engine failed do to low oil although the truck was just there on 12/30/22. When I called to ask why they didn’t check the oil I was told they are no longer working with me because I called the state.Business response

Ms. ******* contacted the ***** ** ********* *** inspector about this concern. After reviewing the facts of the purchase and inspection of the vehicle prior to purchase the State closed the case in Summit's favor. The customer was offered 2 different extended service contracts at the time of purchase and declined. Summit offered the customer a discount on labor to our internal rate and a discount on the replacement engine of $1,200 to help. I have sent the customer an email explaining our process of changing oil. She accused Summit of not telling her that the oil was low when she came in for an oil change. We do not measure drained oil during an oil change. There is no service facility that does that. Here is what I sent via email.
****Begin copied email**********,
You are correct that your vehicle was brought for routine service in October and December. In October you had an oil change and inspection. We do not measure drained oil during an oil change. If a customer mentions a concern when they bring their vehicle in and would like us to investigate or diagnose a concern, we will. In December you brought the truck in for a tire rotate. If your truck was low on oil at that time, we would not have been aware of that. If you had asked us to diagnose a concern at that time, we would have.
I am glad you were able to find another option that fits your budget better. If you choose to use our discounted labor option and free loaner that the state reviewed instead of the estimate you received from Automotive Specialists, we would be happy to help.
Thank you!****end copied email****This customer has made a legal purchase. She was in the dealership and reviewed the vehicle and all documents related. She was offered protection and declined. We have offered a settlement in the form of a discount on parts and labor. She contacted the ***** *** *********, he ruled in favor of Summit after reviewing all the purchase and inspection documents. I will attach a copy of the State closing letter for your review.

We purchased a 2011 GMC Sierra ***** SLT from Summit Automotive **** We purchased our vehicle in January of 2022 and in May of 2022 the "def heater" went out costing us $950.00. When we purchased the vehicle, since it was a diesel we purchased the extended warranty for $2644.00. Come to find out; that a "def heater" is not covered. Though in extended warranty pushed by Summit Zurich does not cover this. One of our main concerns when we purchased this truck was the "def system" and what happens if this goes out. Which is how we ended up purchasing the extended warrant. We called Summit on 05-20-2022 at approximately between 3-3:30 PM and spoke to whom handles the warranties and he spoke with whom he called the powers that be; and they have no coverage. This is extremely frustrating that they spend ALL this time to get you to purchase this coverage and yet there is NOTHING they can help you with. We shared with the gentleman that they should start educating people what is NOT covered. And Zurich should properly call out that there is NO COVERAGE for a "def heater" even though it is not clearly excluded.
