On January 25th, 2024, an electrician named **** from Lee Mechanical came to our house to install some light fixtures that we had purchased. **** was quite pleasant. He did not give either my husband nor I an estimate on how long the work would take or how much it would cost. We had been quoted from the office at the time of scheduling that electric labor cost $140 an hour and that any necessary supplies would be added to the bill. When it came time to pay, my husband paid $703 to **** for his service and supplies. There was no cost breakdown or explanation given as to how $703 was arrived at. I came home and thought there would be an emailed invoice waiting for me; there was, but it simply listed $703 as the cost. **** was at our house for about three hours (8:30-11:30), and we supplied the light fixtures. He also installed a new door bell, which doesn't work. How did **** arrive at $703 to charge us? Three hours of labor at $140 is $420, and I can't imagine that a non-working doorbell cost almost $300. I called the company right away to ask for a detailed invoice.Over the last 2.5 weeks, I have called and emailed *** probably twenty times, speaking to many different people who all had different explanations and solutions to my problem. I have communicated with *****, *****, **************************, and I think one other person, and have been told that either accounting has the invoice, or the service manager does, or the technician will call me, or *** doesn't create invoices that list what their customers pay for. I still don't have a detailed invoice that can explain what we paid for. Of course I am concerned that we were over-billed.Customer response

In the Fall of 2021, I purchased a Generac Whole House Generator from Lee Mechanical (dba *** Select). I selected Lee Mechanical because (as their records will show) I have been a faithful customer of theirs for greater than a decade. I have history with them, so I tried to stick with who I know.Over the course of the installation, during a discussion with ***** Salesperson ***********************, we discussed several features related to the maintenance and upkeep of the Generator. The Salesperson informed me that "next year we will come out and perform a service check on the unit...and after that you'll need to have the unit serviced every 2-years by us or a certified Generac Dealer." In August 2022, I called the folks at Lee Mechanical to make arrangements for, among other things, a service check of my Generac Generator. Much to my surprise and dismay, I would learn that Lee Mechanical had no plans to conduct a first-year service check on my generator. I was further informed by the Sales Rep *********************** that he "never informed me of that a f check would occur." A pattern of deception by Lee Mechanical was beginning to become clear to me. In late June and July 2022, I had reached out to the Sales Rep *********************** to share some disturbing information that I'd come across. In case after case...at ******* at Menards and even a Honeywell Generator that was practically identical to the Generac Generator (my 18kw) were being sold at ~$4,000 below what Lee Mechanical had charged me. To be sure, I decided to unanimously call a few Generac dealers and probe for "2021 thru Summer 2022 all in cost for the installation of an 18kw (or similar) Generac Generator." The estimates provided to me where between $5,500 - $6,500. So, I again reached out to Sales Rep *********************** with this concern and provided more examples and I requested to "be made whole" for this significant difference. Sadly, I was politely told that there was nothing that he could do.Business response

Thank you for sending this to me. I have spoken to ******************* a few times about this. He was under the impression that the annual maintenance on the new generator would be at no-charge to him. Unfortunately, that is not the case. We do charge the customer for all Generac maintenances after the original install. We are very sorry for the confusion on our end, no where in the contract did it say this would be no charge. We did not refuse the service, he refused to pay for the service. ******************* has been a very loyal and dedicated customer of *** for many years, we are all very sorry this had happened and wish him well. *****- Service Manager Lee Mechanical 12.6.22
