I took my truck to Deluxe ********* for a routine engine and differentials fluid change, but within a fewweeks, my differential boiled and locked up. A mechanic explained that this does not occur, that the oil used in my differential had to have lacked adequate anti-friction components. I contacted Deluxe ********* immediately. The manager agreed that this isn't right but that he used the correct oil. When I asked about friction modifier, the manager first said its included in the oil, then later claimed it comes in a combo pack with the oil. That is not true.I requested to speak with the owner, who initially seemed professional. I described the issue and mentioned that the shop smelled strongly of marijuana when I picked up my truck, raising concerns about thecredibility of the manager. The owner promised that the shops surveillance footage could verify the oil used but never provided it. Instead, he attempted various excuses to avoid responsibility, including cold calling dealerships with fabricated scenarios. **** inspected my truck, concluded that the incorrect oil had been used. The owner finally forwarded the information to his insurer, but they dragged out the claim, said was disputed, and offered a settlement that didn't cover the full costs. I refused, as I believe its unjust to pay for the fluids change, the subsequent breakdown, towing, and months without my truck,and then the cost of removing and replacing the wrong oil.An oil analysis from my differentials showed significant discrepancies, with crucial elements like Phosphorus, Boron, and Sulfur at nearly half or less the required levels. These elements are essential for protection and are standard in the correct synthetic oil for my truck. Its clear that Deluxe ********* used incorrect fluid, causing damage to my truck. I request that Deluxe ********* undertake necessary repairs, thoroughly remove and flush the remaining incorrect fluid, and reimburse me for towing costs and the loss of use.
