In the summer of 2021 I reached out to Wausau Homes about building a new home in ****** **. They got me in contact with their builder in the area who drafted plans and put together a contract. In that contract it lists the money to be paid to them after each phase was completed, the start date, and the completion date. The wausauhomes.com site clearly states the price is firm and can't change and the completion date with a firm move in date will be listed in the contract. The build started on time. The completion date listed is August 5, 2022 and we are now almost 3 months beyond that. Since then they have given me multiple new completion dates but none of those were met. Currently there is still no heat, running water, gaps aren't filled, insulation isn't completed... They always say they are working on it but nothing ever seems to get done and their communication is spotty at best. I have attempted to get details surrounding their plans but they now go ignored. On July 7th 2022 the builder told me the cement was finished and I needed to send them a check for $78,795, so I did. I later find out the cement floor is not completed correctly and needs to be fixed. They attempted to fix the floor themselves and it currently still has high spots and low spots throughout the house. They tell me they will fix it later but I already paid because they told me it was done.During the design process they had the plans for the desired fireplace with all the specs. They build the house to accommodate this fireplace but made the mistake of putting a beam directly above it. This beam prevents the chimney flue from being installed so they decided to move the fireplace. They now say they need more chimney pieces that cost over $2,300 and I need to pay for it even though they admit it was their mistake and had all the info to do it correctly from the start. An independent builder told me there were other ways to avoid this problem and better/cheaper ways to fix it.
