We contracted Current for a home solar installation. This system was designed, and intended, to completely offset our energy use. We had provided 12 months of utility bills for this purpose. The consultant they sent us told us this system would completely offset our utility costs for the year, at a cost of around $85,000. We were told this would produce enough energy in the summer to give us credits from our utility company that we would offset our use in the winter months. We were also offered 18 month no interest financing, which was a major selling point for us. Their communication throughout the project was terrible, the installation techs broke decorative fencing in our yard, left it littered with cigarette butts and other trash, did not fill in holes they dug for the new meter, never informed us about delays in the project, and told us their consultant was not authorized to offer us that financing after the project was completed (they did at least cave on the financing component). All of this would be forgivable if the system did half of what it was promised. Even in the summer months, we did not break even on our energy costs (when we were told it should produce a surplus). This very expensive system has been an utter disappointment. I brought all of these issues to their attention in an email last month, and they never even bothered to respond with so much as an apology.Business response

On 9/9/2022 we hired Current Electric to install a new light fixture in our master bedroom. The original light fixture was to be removed and left at our home, because we were going to use it in one of the bedroom's upstairs. It was an expensive light fixture we purchased through ************ downtown ********* for our new home, back in 2015, but it was not bright enough for the size of our Master bedroom. On 9/9/2022 two employee's from Current Electric showed up to install the new light fixture and remove the old one. One of them very professional, the other not so. As my husband was settling the bill with the professional looking one, I saw the unprofessional one, walking out of our bedroom with the old light, along with the box where the new one came in. I stopped him and told him that the old light fixture was to remain here and that we'd be using it elsewhere. His reply was, I'm just going to leave it at the front, which was our foyer. As it turns out he did not leave the light fixture behind and stole it. We called Current Electric numerous times trying to get this issue resolved. We were told that our old light fixture had been thrown away, which is probably a lie the employee said to cover his thievery and he also told us that my husband told him to take it, which is not true. We finally got word from ***** that they would refund $150 back to us. The light fixture cost $429 online and has been discontinued. It was a Josslyn, 3 light pendant, drum light, with brushed nickel rose pattern going around it. I do not have a receipt anymore for it, but would like more than $150 back. We paid $266 for the install of the new light fixture. I would want that amount refunded back to us, which is still not enough, but it would be satisfactory, since their employee stole from us.Business response

At Current Electric, we take every complaint seriously, especially those that accuse one of our employees of stealing. After an internal investigation, we believe the light was taken by mistake and thrown away; as it is common practice for old light fixtures to be thrown away following an install. The price of the light the customer provided to us changed multiple times in her various conversations and online reviews. We believe that considering depreciation of value after at least 7 years of use, that $150 was a fair amount for the light; however, if the a duplicate of the original can be found, we are willing to purchase that for the customer. Moving forward, we have a new system in place to allow customers to select whether they want us to discard of the light or if they want to keep it.
