oct, 13fh 2023. ok they gave me a quote for $1095, *** ******** and live on a small amount. when they got there they loaded the expensive stuff, then he said he wanted another $1100 or they were keeping my stuff, so i had to use my line of credit, then he was 3 days late to drop off. then he said he wanted $1700 more or they were going to keep my stuff, and i didn't know what to do,so i called my bank and begged for more. so they unloaded ang got out , *** ******** and they just dumped everything in my living room, it took me a month to go through it, i'm missing close, household items broken and personal items gone.total *** ***, the money should have only be $1095 what they quotedBusiness response

*************** is one of our many repeat customers, his first move was done successful on beginning of 2022 and that was why he hired ** again for his second move in Oct 2023. For both moves the amount of cargo was of similar amount and because he was a repeat customer he got a discounted rate which was lower than the initial move in 2022.Customer response

I secured the services of Style Moving on August 21, 2023 for my move within BC with a $200 deposit. I was originally quoted $1000+fuel costs equivalent to 18% of the weight of my goods, and I was explicitly told that once the quoted amount was paid I would receive my goods at the destination and be invoiced any additional fees. This fuel bill was assessed to be $360, according to a weight of 2000lbs. I did not receive a scale weight of my goods, and was simply charged the flat rate of 2000lbs. For reference, I was moving a small 1 bedroom apartment with a total of 14 boxes, one double bed, one 65 inch **** TV, one **** sofa, and 3 **** end tables. There is no possible way this totaled to 2000lbs. Also, I was charged a "Long Carry/Stairs" fee for the distance between the apartment to the truck. The movers did not park the truck in the driveway where the majority of my good were located, rather they chose to park on the street to intentionally increase the distance of carry so they could charge me this fee. They also refused to use the sofa bag I had purchased and demanded that I use one of theirs. With that and various other "moving supplies" (tape, one TV box) this increased my bill by an additional $268. The grand total came to $1832.25, which is $832.25 more than the original quote. This company also refused to deliver my goods until the outstanding balance had been paid, contrary to what was indicated earlier that I would be invoiced any additional fees. This resulted in me having to live for 2 weeks without my goods, sleeping on the floor of my new apartment. The company refused to honor the original agreement, and once the remainder of the bill had been paid by me, I was told that I had to wait for my goods until they had a delivery scheduled for my area, with no date indicated.Initial Complaint

They quoted us $2200 and then showed up and told us they wanted a $5000 deposit, the cost would be $10,000 for the move and they wanted to rebox all our boxes and ship them to Vancouver. They're only nice till they take your money and then won't return it once you tell them you won't pay $10000 for a move they quoted $2200 for plus gas. They won't refund us our $200Initial Complaint

We are seeking resolution for claims made with the company that they are not following through for. The move out was June 29 (originally booked for June 30) and move in was July 1. The company directly did not move us, they subcontracted out a separate moving company without ever telling us they did who tried to get us to pay cash multiple times while the company themselves were requesting payment electronically. The movers they subcontracted did not allow us to read through the contract until everything was packed away in the truck and the move was signed off on, and did not allow us to declare any high value items officially even though we had high value items. This high value item was damaged, and they are refusing proper compensation now because it was not formally declared. The movers damaged our property significantly that we were moving out of by backing out unnecessarily and damaging the meridian and properties across the road as well, yet they refuse to provide compensation for the $600+ bill we were charged for their recklessness. There was a second exit they had the ability to drive forward out of. A lost item was also declared with a $205 value and they have declared it lost but are offering no compensation. Between the $605 charge for property damage, the $205 lost item, and a $548.99 damaged item they have offered us compensation of $198 on $1358.99 in damages. They also changed our pickup time less than 48 hours from the scheduled move time, and moved it to less than 24 hours from when the call was and refused any compensation for our inconvenience. Finally, when we booked we were quoted at $1542.75 for the move itself being 1000-3000 lbs, and they charged us an extra $400 for extra weight for it being 2000-3000 lbs even though that is within the stated weight limit, and they had another move packed into their truck besides our belongings so it wasn’t all ours for the weight. I have moved my household items from London ON to Vancouver BC by Style moving company. They charged me $45 to weight the items and their email/contract says they will send me a receipt of the weight. Now they have sent me a $3000 invoice and ask me to pay the whole amount upfront before they deliver my items and they aren't giving me the weight receipt. They are holding my items and not releasing them either. The customer service agents have been extremely **** on multiple occassions.Initial Complaint

Alex the guy I spoke, he said he will include all the terms we spoke over the phone and pushed me to give credit card details for payment and collected $200 deposit and did not include the disassemble and assemble furniture, cost is based on weight not on volume. Upon questioning he **** saying he never told they will be in contract but they will be fulfilled. I asked my deposit back as he ****, but refused saying its non refundable.Business response

Before deposit was requested, terms and conditions of the service were disclosed, as well, the information was stated in the quotation email, where it clearly says deposits were not refundable. Client willingly gave us the credit card information and agreed to the service knowing deposit was not refundable. Assembly and disassembly of furniture is a service we agreed to provide, yet it does not constitute an element of the contract. The email provided before client agreed to hire the service clearly states cargo can be measured by weight or volume, whichever is greater.Initial Complaint

We asked for Style Moving to be our Moving Company for January 1st, 2023.The quote given was for $2245 + fuel and 18% surcharge, with an estimated weight of 5000-8000 pounds for a 3 bedroom home. We moved from ********* to **********. 1 Hour from arrival they told us the cost to pay was ******* and it must be paid before they would give us our stuff. We had to scramble because that is significantly higher than the quote. They claimed that our stuff weighed ***** pounds, but could show no proof of tare/receipt for the weight scale in Hope. They also charged **** dollars for gas for their round trip, which would have been roughly 8 hours. Here is what they told us the price includes:Origin and destination charges Loading + unloading Furniture wrapping with padded moving blankets Inventory list with color coded tags and condition report of each item 4 weeks free storage from pickup (re-delivery is free)Door to door service Two breaches of this are: 1) They did not wrap all of our furniture, and damaged several of the pieces. There are scuffs, as well as full breakages on some of our furniture because of the lack of padding.2) They did not make an inventory list with tags and determine condition of items. Upon arrival at the new house, they were willing to bring some items into the rooms but most of the boxes they just dumped in the garage and did not inspect condition of anything. We had to take apart the garage just to organize our items and then load them into rooms, and they damaged several furniture pieces. We have documented the damage and have pictures.We have tried to resolve the problem, as mentioned above, but they do nothing but insist we should simply trust them that they were honest and did things correctly. I have booked the company for moving my furniture and household stuff on 26th November for pick up and 01 December for drop off. There estimated quote was for $1200 and on the day of delivery the final bill was for $2763.75 for which they did not provide proof of weight for my stuff.My furniture like my bed frame leg was broken, office chair wheels were broken, my air cooler wheel was broken and my kitchen steel utility rack was broken. Apart from all this they did not deliver completely. Four of my boxes were missing. At the time of delivery they came to my place and made me pay first and then start delivery. I have submitted the claim as they asked and ever since I had worst customer service and no answer on email. After emailing them for two weeks they offered $175 and later after further emails they offered $200 which is nothing for what I lost which they claim.I have been asking them to provide proof of weight for which they estimated the amount and they process of detail report for which they declared my boxes missing from then on I have not heard from them. They dont have phone number to reach the claim department and say only email for which they dont even reply or give any updates. They have harassed me mentally and got hold of my stuff. After a few delays and an outrageous bill I realized I was missing 3 boxes of valuables and my entire Christmas tree. I was rushed to sign the sheet of paper saying I received all goods because they had 'other moves'- which I don't doubt they did, however I had NO time to tally my boxes and no time to tell them there were 3 missing boxes. After emailing the movers they basically said they cant do anything about it. Their only job is to move my things from point A to B safely. Not to mention there are chips in my desk, my metal table is bent and the fragile boxes were flipped upside down-- again those were things which actually arrived. Im so upset. There was no offer of compensation, no offer of help and I was blown off because the job was 'done' and they had my money.Business response

This move happened 10 months ago; we don't have lifetime liabilities. We are not aware of the situation until now. Unfortunately, this is past the claim period as customers have up to 30 days from delivery to submit a claim.Customer response
