I purchased an ** washer and dryer set from the Discount Appliance location in Moncton on June 18, 2022. Within the first week, the dryer drum seized and the washer was leaking. I contacted Discount Appliance and informed the sales representative of the issues. He informed me that Discount Appliance has its own technician who does repairs, but he was away on sick leave and it was unknown when he would return. I called again several days later to check if the repair tech had returned. He had not. I asked if I could arrange for an independent repair person and then submit the receipt for reimbursement. The sales rep checked with the owner and authorized this arrangement in light of the circumstances. The dryer was repaired on July 8, totalling $119.01. It has since worked fine. The washer fix took longer because the technician had to order the parts: hot and cold inlet valves to replace the defective ones. This repair was subsequently completed on Aug. 22, totalling $241.69. The washer has also worked fine since then. On Oct. 5, I submitted the receipts to Discount appliance seeking reimbursement for the grand total of 360.70, with a request to send the cheque to our mailing address. Several reminder calls and emails went out over the following weeks. On Dec. 12, an email reply came from the accounts manager at Discount Appliance reading: "Could you send me your email address, and I'll have them etransfer you the money." Although I found the request odd, I highlighted my email address in my response. More reminder calls have been placed since then. Nothing has happened, however. As stated in Discount Appliance's own policy: "We offer a 90 day warranty plan on all service and 90 days for any required parts." My invoice is ******Business response

Hello,
The customer did have consent to get their own technician and the company would pay the bill as we didn't have a technician.
The customer did provide a receipt and it was forwarded off to the accounts dept.

We purchased a fridge from this business on February 22nd, paid 1400.00 for it and as they hire outside of their store for delivery, we also paid 100.00 cash to their delivery guy **** ***** upon delivery! The fridge did not work properly from get go. You could not set the temperature nor the icemaker. We went through the steps to take the fridge out of Sabboth mode etc....none of which worked. Numbers on the panel just kept flashing! We then proceeded to contact ******* Technical Support as it is a ******* fridge. We explained the problem to them and they again went through all the steps to take fridge out of Demo/Shop/Sabboth mode etc to no avail. The following day, we contacted the customer service number listed directly on Their website......233-6717. Spoke with a woman who advised myself that they would send their repair man out. Repair man came out, checked the fridge and confirmed it could not be set because the panel was faulty! The same woman then advised myself via phone call that they had the same fridge but it had dented doors so they would bring that fridge out for the inside(where panel is located) and swap out the doors. She advised that they would call back for arrangements by end of the week. Myself and my gf waited for said phone call as I personally advised staff to contact my gf and provided her cell number as I work backshift and sleep during the day. I was ensuring no missed phone calls. No one ever called with these arrangements. Friday Feb 25th came and went with nothing! Myself and my gf both continued to call both numbers provided on website 233 6717 and 8022427. You gave us the run around for almost a month and did not keep original arrangements! Naomi....you are now outright lying to BBB in regards to my satisfaction! You asked if I was happy it worked now and I said If IT ACTUALLY WORKS! I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH LOST GROCERIES AS YOU LEFT US WITHOUT A FRIDGE FOR 2 DAYS AND YOU DID IN FACT BLOCK NUMBERS!Initial Complaint

Invoice 3621 - ***** ******* ***** ******* Tue 2/22/2022 8:07 PM ***** ******* Tue 2/22/2022 8:02 PM Good evening please note, I have made multiple attempts at rectifying the situation with no response. I will be reporting the company and both directors of the company **** and **** to the competitions bureau tomorrow as well, I will be filing with the Queens court bench this week. ? You forwarded this message on Wed 2/16/2022 8:56 AM You forwarded this message on Wed 2/16/2022 8:56 AM ***** ******* Thu 2/10/2022 10:06 AM Good morning, This email is being sent without prejudice I am sending this email as a final request for refund as I have made requests to both Steven and the sales associate in Dartmouth who had made the request last Thurdsay to escalate to accounts payable for the refund. On December 19th, 2021 my wife and I had seen an advertisement on facebook marketplace from Discount Appliances which is still up in regards to a black GE 27 Laundry center. I do also have screen shot photos of other ads with the same laundry center being used on newer discount Appliances advertisements. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/4848821098511054/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Ad85c5525-a2b5-4f66-88b3-d289b90a7148 When walking into the store located at 47 Industrial in Dieppe NB I was met by a Discount employee **** ****** who I enquired about the ad. He had mentioned this was an advertisement from the NS office and he would have to enquire about it, in which he called the store to confirm it was available. I asked was there any damages as the price was slightly lower than the next closest competitor Home Depot and we wanted to confirm this before placing the order. **** assured us this was a brand new laundry center, but to bring it to Moncton a full payment was required. I did make a full payment that day for 1701.99 to bring the washing machine in. From there I was told shipping may takeBusiness response

I am rejecting this response because:
The Laundry center has been returned, with the company holding my money. The appliance that I purchased, that was required to be paid in full to deliver to the Moncton location was not that of the photo that was used. I was baited into purchasing a damaged product, which when no timeline was given to repair and no timeline for a replacement like kind and quality. I was forced to purchase at another supplier in Moncton.
I was frauded with a bait and switch sales product that was falsely represented by the sales department at Discount Appliances.
I am requesting the full refund as I was given no response from this company until I reached out to both the competition bureau of Canada and the Better Business Bureau.

I purchased a washer/dryer set from Discount Appliances, and within 3 months the washer machine was leaking. At first, I thought not a problem as they offer a 6-month warranty. They picked my washer machine up from my home and then just went silent on me. I followed up with them after two weeks of waiting, and they had sold my washer machine to someone else. I requested a replacement, and it took another week of waiting (and calling) until I finally received a replacement washer machine. The replacement I just received is broken. I am being told that they will need to charge me an additional fee to do another 'replacement'. If I want to get my appliance 'repaired' I will be waiting a long time for them to coordinate a delivery company. (it sounds to me like they haven't been paying their delivery companies and no one wants to work for them anymore).Business response

Hello,
We exchanged the washer for the customer, and we are going to pick up the other washer.
The problem with the first washer was that the customer had one of their towels stuck in the water pump.

I am rejecting this response because:
They took the first machine (sold it) and never provided a working replacement, and refused to resolve the issue. That is arguably tantamount to theft. After extensive effort on the customers part, Discount Appliance has recently provided a temporary operational washer machine. Although I paid for a matching washer/dryer set, and my washer and dryer no longer match. I believe this dispute suggests issues with regards to a bailment claim and the initial purchase is covered by the Sale of Goods Act warranties too regardless of whatever policy they purport to have. furthermore, they still have not picked up their broken washer machine - it is inconveniently sitting in my living room.
I believe a refund is in order as they have clearly failed to provide the products/services I have paid for. Not to mention we are still within the 6-month warranty period.
Thank you *******, for your assistance in this matter.

On Nov 2/2021 my husband and I purchases a ** gas dryer from this Discount Appliance Warehouse at 230 Wyse rd in Dartmouth.I paid $600 for it and was told it was new not refurbished. We noticed once it was home and hooked up that it would only produce heat on one setting. So on November 29/21 this dryer would not produce heat on any setting.I called Naomi at Discount Appliances and she told me they would have a repair man call me the same day,he did but told me they don't work on gas appliances. So I called the store again and asked for Naomi,I was told she was on another call and the gentleman asked if he could help,I explained the dilemma and he told me they don't have a technician for gas appliances. The next day I go to the store and see Naomi, she tells me he didn't know they had someone to work on gas appliances. But I did ask if they had another dryer in stock and she showed me a Samsung gas dryer that had scratches on it and we ended up agreeing on another $280.00 with a free delivery. She promised to have it delivered that evening around 8-8:30 so I paid her and waited. No dryer showed, and not even a phone call.By now my house is torn apart with a dryer at the top of my stairs that doesn't work. The next morning I call and call and call, finally I reach Naomi and she does not have an excuse or even an apology and she blames the 3rd party deliver driver. She tells me it will be there at 3:30 today,I arran** my work to be home and wait until 4:15 still no dryer showed up.After multiple phone calls and broken promises,On Wednesday Dec 1st at 4:45 she sends me a text telling me the driver is loading our appliances and has one stop on Gaston rd then deliver to us.At 6:30 ater they are now closed,I go to the store and the dryer is still ther but now it's in the service area.So on Saturday Dec 4th my husband drops the original dryer at their door asked for the credit and says we'll see you in court which is my next move.He then went to Costco and bought an electric dryer.Business response

Hello,
Our store manager ***** has contacted the customer in regards to their complaint for refund, the store manager explained to the customer that we don't do refunds and had offered the customer a $900.00 in store credit to use at anytime with no expiry date and customer refused and said they would rather take it to small claims court.
Unfortunately the customer had to wait for delivery as we only deal with third party delivery companies and we do apologize for that.
As per our warranty we don't give refunds.

I am rejecting this response because:we were told that the dryer to be delivered was on the truck on the way to being delivered,I drove down to the store and found the dryer we had paid for days before was sitting in their repair area, this was within 10 minutes of being told it was on the truck for delivery,in other words we were lied to and I will not take a store credit because they are a company that simply cannot be trusted.i will not have any type of dealings with this company ever again. They have repeatedly told us what we wanted to hear just to get our money and when their product was completely unsatisfactory and faulty,we live in an area that has natural gas and knowing the lies they’ve told us how safe would we be with their product and the risk of a gas leak in our home.their products are not new, they are either damaged, repaired unsatisfactory, faulty or just plainly don’t work as they are supposed to.Either way the only dealing we will have with this company is to receive a full refund,if they won’t agree to that then I’ve instructed my lawyer to be ready to start the process for small claims court. If we do filed a claim it will be for all damages and loss of income also.
Thank you******* ******

Two of The products were left out in the leaky barn. The company said it was too dark to get them in the house. Now am I supposed to pay someone else to do this? I paid the company $180 to deliver the three appliances in my house.
