I recently transacted a lease-to-purchase on my 2018 Toyota Camry. During the safety check necessary for a buy-out, I was met with discrepancies by the service department management. The service department presented me with an invoice for 4 new tires. The front 2 tires did not pass the safety check. I recalled at the most recent maintenance check, the tires had passed with flying colours of 6/32 thread depth. I verified the service paperwork from the maintenance check. How is it the tires went from good to abnormal in just 3 months, with 2200 km put on the tires? I got a second opinion at a tire dealership. They agreed that the front tires were balding on the inner rim. The rear tires were wearing, and were fine. He showed me where the tire issues were. He could not explain how the tires deteriorated in just 2200 km. The Toyota Service Department Manager could not answer why the tires deteriorated so quickly. He said he would ask his service technician how he determined the tires were not safety worthy. The Service Manager declared that the reason for the worn tires was because during the most recent maintenance check, the technician checked off the wrong category. And probably the maintenance check before that. How is that 2 service technicians would be incorrect on 2 separate occasions and on all 4 tires each time? The Service Manager followed up by looking at the tires. He was gone much longer than a tire check would take. Upon returning he said the rear tires were borderline or substandard and the front tires would pass. This information contradicted what the service department originally reported and the tire dealership had confirmed. How is it that the front tires were originally unpassable and now the rear tires were not? When I got home, I checked the front tires and could NOT see balding inner rims. The tires were re-inspected by the tire dealership. The tread was 4/32 on the front tires and would not pass a safety check.

I am writing a ********* towards Upper James Toyota in Hamilton, Ontario, about an insurance plan I paid for upon leasing my 2018 Camry. I recently transacted a lease-to-purchase buy-out on my 2018 Toyota Camry. When I followed up on the buy-out at the end of the lease, I was met with discrepancies by management. One of the insurance plans purchased was an ********* insurance plan from the Finance Manager, who told me at the time of purchase, the plan was meant to touch-up any scratches or dents, both of a certain size. I was told to do the touch-up at the time of the buy-out. I spoke with 4 individuals from management. They all gave me different discrepancies on why I couldn’t have the paint touch-up. The original salesman was the only person who told me to do the paint touch-up before the purchase. As a goodwill gesture, the General Manager offered to waive the $300 administration fee for the purchase. I believe he did this was so as not to correct the issue. I have encountered misinformation and discrepancies. * *** ******** *** **** *** ***** ***** ****** ********** **** *** ******* ******* **** *** ****** ** *** **** *** ********* ************ ** ***** ******** ******* **** ****** ****** *********. All of them gave whatever excuses they could come up with in order not to honour the ********* insurance plan. * **** ******* *** ********* ***** ****** ****** ****** ** *********

Unfortunately, just because a business is 'local' or 'family owned' does not always mean it is a business you should support. The events that transpired while purchasing a new vehicle at Upper James Toyota, which is owned by ************** Hamilton, can be considered deplorable at best. The individuals I have interacted with at this dealership seem to have no regard for quality customer service, integrity, support for the product they sell or consideration for human dignity.

I put an order in for a 2022 Toyota Tacoma and waited 6 months for the vehicle to be delivered. The vehicle was delivered with defects that affected the safe operation as the vehicle would not drive straight and constantly pulled to one direction and would be challenging to drive safely on the road. The vehicle additionally had cosmetic defects that the business stated they had taken responsibility for, however later refused to correct them.

This business has gone above and beyond to lie and deflect blame from themselves instead of admitting their mistakes and doing the right thing by correcting it. They claim the vehicle was perfect after it was brought in to have the steering fixed. They claimed it was perfect and there was nothing to do. I brought it to another dealership for a second opinion and within minutes they found the problem and found it perplexing to have been missed. Upper James Toyota continued to refute all the evidence I accumulated because they are only interested in pushing vehicles out the door and not holding any integrity or standing behind the brand.
