Very upset and disappointed that my 6 year old daughter (who has Noonan Syndrome) was made fun of and pushed during the April 18th camp day class. We received no calls or info on this from Gymnastics Mississauga. Very disappointing. I will wait for the parents at the next class and address this myself ********************************************

At Gymnastics Mississauga we promote positivity, cooperation and a strong sense of an accepting community. We have athletes of all genders, races, ages and skill-levels that attend our Club. Our goal is and remains to always maintain an atmosphere that fosters growing self-confidence and positive personal and social development. As such, the complaint that one of our athletes was subject to negative comments by her classmates due to her disability is entirely unacceptable and we take this issue very seriously.

We were first notified of this allegation after the online complaint was published by the complainant. Upon being notified of the incident we immediately investigated the matter and contacted all parents to remind them of the seriousness of the allegations. We further reminded parents that we have strict policies in place and would not hesitate to respond swiftly if we discovered future incidents of this nature. The Club was of course mindful to the reality that the complainant's daughter has been with us for nearly a year and this was the first allegation of this nature, and that young children are still discovering that some words are hurtful and it takes a community effort to guide and remind children what behaviour is acceptable.

The Club's core values of inclusivity, support and community makes incidents of this nature incredibly rare. Hence when we hear of these incidents we take it very seriously. The Club acted swiftly and remain dedicated to ensuring, adhering and upholding our core values, and maintaining a welcoming environment for everyone. It is because of this decisive action that we are pleased to say that the complainant's daughter continues to be a valued athlete of the Club.
