I purchased a 2014 Subaru from this dealer on October 27th of 2022 for a friend who is repaying me for the car. I had the car detailed by the dealership and picked it up after the transaction was complete. 15 minutes on the way home, the engine warning light came on warning of a transmission problem. Since I own a Subaru of my own, I called my Subaru dealer in Kingston to ask what they though. The asked that I use a tool to read the codes. When I presented the result to them they said it was likely a solenoid problem in the transmission and the cost of repair was approx $1600 for the part plus labour. We reported this back to the Surgenor and they offered to refund $700 which we accepted at the time. When the vehicle was delivered to a reputable Subaru repair shop in in Kingston, further issues were discovered with the transmission (leaks and noise) and it was recommended that the transmission needed to be replaced as it was not likely that the original repair would have completely solved the issue. . We attempted to recover the cost of the used replacement transmission from Surgenor but they did not respond. We are not looking to recover the approx $1100 of repairs that were initially required for the initial safety of the vehicle which we felt were reasonable given the age of the car. However because we know that the dealer knowingly reset the codes and was aware of the issues with the car they chose not to disclose, we are looking to recover the full 3481.00 for the cost of the transmission minus $700.00 already compensated. As a final note, maybe one would expect this type of sleazy behaviour of intentionally concealing a major problem by a small used car lot but certainly not a large dealership. I've uploaded the copy of the repair bill. But also have copies of the email exchanges between Surgenor and pictures of the code reader results that show a transmission problem. It also admits that Suregone reset the problem codes in the vehicle
