Claim Against Baker’s Bungalows, Waskesui, SK
Around July 1, 2024, I made a reservation for a bungalow for August 7 & 8, 2024. ** ****** **** ** **** ******* *** ****** **** *** ****** **** *** **** *** *** * ********* ********* ******* *** **** **** *** *** ********* *** **** *** *** ****. * **** ****** **** ******* ** *** **** ** *** ****** *** ***** ****** **** * *** ***** ** **** **** **** ******* ****** **. ******* ** ****** *** **** ****** ***** ****** *** * ********* *****, I specifically asked if there was a renovated cabin available for those dates. I was assured that the cabin that I reserved was almost fully renovated. The male that I spoke with, ****, gave me a list of things that had been renovated in the cabin, and the couple of outstanding items that were not yet renovated. With the information that he provided, I went ahead and booked the cabin. He assured me that this cabin had been almost fully renovated.
**** ******** *** ** ******* ** **** *** * ****** ******** ** **** ****** *** ** ** ***** ****** **** **** ****** **** *******. When my friend and I opened the door to the bungalow that we had reserved, the first thing that hit us was the smell of very strong cleaning product. To our dismay, with one glance at the cabin, we could see that this cabin had not been renovated on the inside since I’d guess around 1970.
As a result, I immediately went back to the front desk, and let them know that I had specifically booked a renovated cabin, and had been reassured over the phone when I booked it, that that is what I was getting. I was upset, ******* **** ** ******* **** **** * **** *** ****** *********. I told them that ** ****** *** **** ****** **** we needed to specifically ask for a renovated cabin, and that is why I know that I did so, and that I could recall being told a whole list of things inside (and outside) the cabin that had been renovated, with a few minor items that were not yet renovated. I also told them that I would not have reserved the cabin without the reassurance that I was getting a renovated cabin.
Our conversation became heated, because from the start, all I kept hearing from ****, over and over again, was that it was impossible that I had been told that I would get a renovated cabin. I kept telling them that I was 100% sure of the conversation that I’d had because I would not have booked it without that reassurance, ********** ****** **** ********** ***** ******* ** **** **** * *** * ********* *****. *********, **** said that he did not believe me, and came up with several reasons why not. *** ******* **** ******* ** ********** **** **** **** ******* *** ******** ** **** ** **** **** ***** *** *** **** *** ******* *** **** ** ***** ***** **** **** ** **** ** *** ********** ***** * *** ******* ****** ** **** ** **** ** *** **** ********** ****** *** *** ******** ******. Clearly, this place has NOT been renovated, except maybe for the outside siding.
I was completely upset and frustrated, and asked for a discount of 50% and they told me that if I didn’t like it I could leave, but there would be no refund. * ***** *** ** ******* * ***** ***** *** *** *** ** ******** **** ********* **** ** **** * ********** *** **** *** ***** ** ** ** *** **** ***** ******** **** ** **** *** ****** **** ******* * *** *** **** **** *** ** ****** **** ****** ** *** **** ******* * **** *** ** **** **** ** * *** ******** * ***** **** ** ****** *** *** **** ** *** *** * **** **** *** **** ******* ****** **** *** ***** *** ********** ** ************** ** *** **** ** **** *** **************. ** ********* ****** ** * ***** **** *** **** ****** ** **** **** ** *** *** ******* *** *** ** **** ********* **** * *** ****** ** *** **** *** *** ****** *** * ******** ** * ****** *********** When I left the office, we took pictures of the cabin, *** * ****** ****, ****** * **** ** ***** ** *** ******* ****** ***** ** *** ******* ****. Then my friend and I went for supper and I got a call from an unknown number, so I let it go to voice mail. It turned out to be from **** ******, Director of Baker’s Bungalows.
****** *** *** ******** ***** ** *** ************* ** *** ********** ** ** he basically said that he’d heard that I was sort of unhappy about the cabin, and that “it is most important to me that our guests have a good experience and that they get what they feel they deserved.” After supper, **** * *** ******* ****** ****, I called him back, as he’d requested, and he immediately started telling me that I could not possibly have had that conversation with ****, when I made the reservation. **** **** ****** *** ****** * *** ***** ***** * **** ********* ** *** ****** **** ** ***** **** ** * *** * **** ***** ** *** **** ** *** ***** *** **** ******* **** ** **. I am 100% sure that my conversation with **** at the time that I booked the cabin was accurate! He asked if I had any proof and I said no, but that I wouldn’t have booked the cabin without that reassurance! Then I said, look, I’m not arguing about this anymore and I hung up. ***** *** ** **** ******* ** *** ****** ****** * ********* **** **** ** ***** *** ************* ** ***** **** *** ******* ***** ****.
Almost immediately after I hung up **** left a ****** ************ voicemail, telling me that I needed to leave the premises immediately, *** **** ** ***** ** ******* *** ****** ** **** ** ******* *** ****** ***** *** ******* ** *** ****** ***** **** ** ********** ** **** ** *********** ********* ***** *** ** ******* *********** *** ***** * *** ****** ***** *** ** **** ****** ***** ****** **** **** **** **** *** ******** ******* *** ** ****** *** ************ **** **** *** ***** *** ************** *** *** ** *** *** ************* ** ** ***** ** * ***** ** *** * ****** ** ***** ***** *** *** *** ****** ******** **** ***** ** * *** ********** ****** **** ** *** **** * ****** ** ***** ***** *** ********** ** ****** ****** ** *********** ****** *** *** ********** ** **** ****** ********* **** ** ****.
