The house we built 14 years ago was struck by lightning and was heavily damaged by fire. The first company we hired (River City Contractors of Arkansas) claimed to be expert at handling insurance claims and fire restoration. Unfortunately, the house suffered so much water damage that it became necessary to tear it down to the slab and rebuild completely. It turned out to be a 7 month long nightmare but, because most of our money was tied up with RCC, we didn't know whether we could fire them or not. We also were told that few builders would take over a job started by someone else. As things got worse and materials were being ordered incorrectly (or not at all) I had to visit a supplier again. The supplier knew our story well as she had worked with us throughout the project and she could see that we needed help. She suggested Danniwayne ***** as the first person she would choose to build a house for her. As she worked daily with many builders, we took her advice and gave him a call hoping he could just give us some advice on how to proceed. He called back promptly after listening to my voicemail and after I explained the situation we were in, he asked to see the house. He came that same day and we walked through the house together which, at that point, was at about 50% completion. He spotted problems right away, asked a lot of questions and to my surprise offered to help us complete the house. He began that same day tracking down our materials and working up a budget for us. The original builder never provided a budget but Danniwayne had one in two days and it was for less than the amount of insurance money that remained (the original contractor was stalling us by saying there wasn't enough money left to finish). Danniwayne spent the first month correcting everything that was wrong with the house and then began finishing it. We kept two of the original subcontractors and they commented directly to me how impressed they were with Danniwayne and how he was regularly on site and worked as hard as they did. Danniwayne always responded to my calls and texts and showed up to meet with us regularly and with the subcontractors. He had a lot of hurdles to get over in taking over from another contractor and he was patient and hardworking every day. He was concerned about the cost of items and worked to save us money where possible. He is very knowledgeable about his craft and takes pride in providing a quality product. Danniwayne presents a budget and tracks each line item to show what has been spent and what remains to be spent. He does not demand money up front as the original contractor did. Danniwayne is the best builder we have ever worked with and the fact that he walked through the nightmare with us is a testament to his integrity and concern for others. We were able to trust him completely with our home and he worked like crazy to get us into the house before our apartment lease ran out and we were homeless again. We had high expectations for the rebuild of our home and we are very hands-on and detailed people. Danniwayne was able to work well with us and deserves credit for the way our beautiful new home turned out. We are forever grateful to him for picking up the pieces and making a difficult situation one that was refreshingly honest and easy to deal with.
