My storage unit was broken into and ransacked three different times in a 22-month period. I filed a report with the police twice, but the police officers assigned to the case told me Public Storage would not provide access to any of security cameras on site unless a warrant was provided by the Police. Hence, the police investigation was terminated. Moreover, none of the Public Storage onsite managers were cooperative, and the female district manager was basically a nasty, uncaring, ugly robot. She addressed my concerns in a bitchy tone by stating over and over "there's nothing I can do, so you are going to need to call your insurance agent". The other onsite managers basically mirrored that verbiage: "there is nothing I can do, call your insurance agent". After the third burglary, I gave one month notice that I would be vacating the unit. In response, the onsite manager working that day told me she needed to hand me final move out papers; so, when I was leaving the storage facility the manager handed me what I thought would be move out papers. However, those papers had nothing to do with my moveout. The manager handed me a cheap brochure of the no-name insurance company that Public Storage profits from by referring customers (I ripped it into little pieces). Since that awful experience, I've spoken to attorneys about a class action lawsuit underway, and I was informed that Public Storage has hired many felons to work these low paying onsite manager and maintenance jobs. These felons allow thieves onto the property and likely participate in the take. In 2024 alone, thieves broke into over 500 Public Storage units throughout the country. In conclusion, NEVER rent a storage unit from Public Storage. Look at the 1.2 out of 5 rating from the BBB. Note that 543 customers have provided reviews and the average rating = 1.2 out of 5. Clearly, Public Storage has the worst reputation of any storage rental facility in the nation.
