College Works is a scam company that operates in multiple states by recruiting young college students into running their own painting business, and paying a percentage to them for their NAME. There are multiple complaints and stories that basically all say the same thing so the college kids are in on the scam they promise them trips and tell them they can make a lot of money. They present themselves as honest, young, hard working kids that go to ******* ******** training and have supervision by a 25 year experienced painter. They will show up with no tools, they hire their untrained friends, they do not clean sand or prep but tell you they will. No supervision. They purposely damaged custom shutters costing me $5000 to replace. They used the wrong paint on wrought iron railings causing me to have a professional remove the poorly prepared paint surface. The California company promised a refund of my $550 deposit, never got it and after much argument they offered me $1500 for everything, but I am taking them to court. Which is another thing they know that it will cost you more in attorney fees to sue them than your damages, They show you they have a million dollar insurance policy but refuse to protect their customers when these kids damage your property. College Works responds to complaints by lying that the client is choosing to have someone else do the repairs and that they are working with the client. Nothing could be further from the truth. This company is a fly by night that rips off people and is getting away with it. Stay far away! I wish Id seen the complaints and that I didnt desire to help out a young person. These young people could care less about the work, they get in and get out fast. At the least the paint will not adhere to dirt, at the worst like me, they will do permanent physical damage to your property. Horrible! Worst! Rip off! Scam! Liars!
