On Sat., April 9, 2022 I drove into a garage managed by Carpark, Inc. on Cherokee in Hollywood, CA. It was dark, I was very tired after a long drive, and I didn't notice that there was another garage up the street on the other side of the road. I was staying at the Motel 6 one street away and their garage was full for the night. They charge $20. I was told that the charge at this garage would be $40. I knew that was too much based on the Motel 6 price, but I was exhausted and did not see the other garage on Cherokee, so I paid. I was told that I could get my car at 10 am the following morning. This was important to me because I had an event to attend at 12 pm. The following morning when I arrived promptly to pick up my car, the gate was not open. I noticed the other parking garage up the street, and spoke with the attendant. He informed me that their charge for one night was $16, so I knew I was definitely ripped off when I paid $40. He also said others had complained about Carpark because their car was held hostage there when the attendant did not return when promised. After waiting 15-20 min., an attendant did arrive for a parking lot next door and was able to open the gate so I could get my car. It was the only car in the garage. I was just lucky that he appeared and I was able to get to my event on time. He told me that the regular price for parking during the day was much cheaper--I think he said it was $20. I never saw the original attendant again. I would never use this company again. They charged an outrageous price and took advantage of the fact that it was late at night and I was exhausted and alone. I certainly didn't get better service by paying twice what other local garages charge.
