I wanted to share my experience with Novato Chevrolet. Car dealers are often known for bait and switch tactics, but this was a new low for me. I found a ***** Bolt listed at a price much lower than similar cars and contacted the dealership. After a few failed attempts to reach someone, I finally spoke to a salesperson. Red flag one: the car had been on the lot for 30 days, which raised my suspicions given its popularity.Since I couldn't check the car myself, I asked my father-in-law to visit the dealership. He liked the car, and I decided to proceed with the purchase. We agreed on a price with the salesman, but I noticed some confusion in the communication. I asked him to prepare the paperwork ahead of time, but he insisted I do everything on-site, which was another red flag. Despite this inconvenience, I made plans to travel from ************* to Novato to get the car.When my wife and I arrived at the dealership in the morning, we test-drove the car, loved it, and were ready to buy. However, things got strange. The salesman said they would detail the car and I noticed they hadn't charged it as requested. Inside, he started asking irrelevant questions like my work details and income, even though I wasnt financing the car. This made me uneasy. Then, the real issue surfaced: they were trying to secure a rebate to sell me the car at the agreed price. When I objected, the finance manager rudely told me to leave if I wasnt happy.They later offered to finance the car or remove add-ons to lower the price, but I refused until I saw the paperwork. It became clear there would be no purchase. The agreed price was $9,000 before tax, but they returned with nearly $12,000. My wife and I walked out, feeling deceived. A deals a deal, and going back on your word is just low. I wanted to share this to prevent others from being taken advantage of.
