Like so many others I have had a horrible experience with California Carpets! I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I did business with them. The salesman talked up "100% wool carpet" and it has been a nightmare since it was installed. For starters it sheds like crazy, even months after install. You have to use a very special expensive vacuum for the carpet which the salesman (****) NEVER told us. And now it's hard to believe but the carpet is damaged from a plastic chair cover we purchased to PROTECT the carpet! Believe it or not the plastic over the carpet created some sort of heat and condensation, so the carpet got wet and completely disintegrated. Who ever heard of wet carpet falling apart? And whoever heard of carpet not being treated so it can withstand some water? And no one EVER told us not to put a plastic chair cover on the carpet. We were trying to protect it from rolling chairs and now it's ruined! I believe the carpet that was installed was rotted, its barely over a year old.California Carpet took no responsibility. After several complaints they came to our house, took a few pictures and said they would submit a claim with the manufacturer because they are not responsible. They only "install and sell" the carpet but then act like they are not responsible! I kept asking for the status of the claim and they finally got back to me and said simply "claim denied"! I then asked how can I get the carpet repaired because I certainly can't live with this and they have never **********'s so clear that they completely rip off the customers and don't care a bit about customer satisfaction. I spent thousands of dollars and within a year the carpet is ruined in 2 rooms from a simple plastic cover for rolling chairs. The product was defective when installed. Rotten carpet, horrible customer service.

********* ********* carpet was installed on 5/3/24.  She contacted us on 5/17/24, saying that the carpet was piling.  She purchased a 100% wool carpet for her home and was advised what type of vacuum to use on a wool carpet (inexpensive low suction vacuum, no beater bar, no high suction vacuum).  We advised her to switch to the proper vacuum for wool carpet.

She contacted us again on 8/26/24 saying that she had yellow circular discoloration where she had placed a chair mat on one area of her carpet.  Pictures that can be provided.  When manufactured, carpet is tufted in straight lines so when we saw that the discoloration was in splotches (not lines), it was clear that this was not a manufacturing defect but something that was being caused in the home.  We went to the home and concluded that the subfloor has moisture, which was telegraphing through to her carpet.  By putting the plastic pad on her carpet, the moisture was held in the carpet (not allowed to breath) causing deterioration in her carpet and the yellowing splotches she was seeing.

We strongly recommend that she have a general contractor inspect her subfloor as there appears to be a moisture issue that needs attention before mold or mildew sets in.

We are very sorry that she is having this issue, but the issue is not a carpet defect and it is not an installation issue and therefore is not covered by her warranty.

We feel that we have gone above and beyond to try to assist Ms. ******* with an issue that is not related to her carpet or her installation.
