We started the *** appeal case (ALJ) almost two years ago. My son is a young adult with autism, and his case should be fairly clear to someone competent to take the case. During that time, we'd never hear anything, and it turned out all the documents and evidence I provided to them were either lost or not looked for in the files. They only finally started contacting us after we were scheduled for a phone hearing, which is not what we wanted. We wanted video or in-person. They waited to do everything at the very, very last minute (less than two weeks before hearing). Suddenly I'd start getting rude demands from ******* for things I'd already provided, or she'd claim she couldn't use anything that wasn't medical records. We weren't applying for a medical disability. That's SSDI. It was for a developmental disability: ***. Over and over all the psychological records would be disregarded as they demanded medical records; because they don't know anything about cases for young adults with autism. ******* assured me that "all my questions [would] be answered by *******" who was supposedly an attorney. They've still never told me his last name. No licensing information provided for "*******." He didn't know what SEIE was, what an ABLE account was, or what the differences between a job and a government-sponsored enrichment program were. My son was in the ***************************** as a volunteer, but had an extraordinary amount of accommodations, such as three ten-minute breaks per hour. That's HALF. He also didn't need to do the harsher duties or assignments that the others did. His duties were light janitorial and standing nearby to observe how others did things. He had constant extra help and extra supervision. He did not reach the level of SGA. Neither ******* what's-his-name nor ******* used any sort of email signature to identify themselves, and in fact ******* used two personal email addresses. We feel like weve been swindled. Its a bait-and-switch.
