Cal Auctions entered into a contract on or about May 1, 2024 to sell items that did not belong to the person who entered into the contract with Cal Auctions. The contents of this property belong to me, ******* *****. Prior to the launch of the auction, I attempted multiple times to reach out to ***** ***** at Cal Auctions to remedy the situation and ensure the auction did not proceed forward. I expressed at that time the contents they were attempting to liquidate through their online auction, belonged to me and if they were to proceed, they would be committing a crime. The auction went forward and ended on May 14, 2024. A complaint was filed and report taken by the *************************** prior to the close of the May 14th auction. Cal Auctions created a second online auction which ended today, June 6, 2024 liquidating more of my personal property. The investigation with the *************************** will take time and there is not an immediate resolution. There is a current case is in the San Diego Court of Appeal which also involves both physical and personal property. Cal Auctions is FULLY aware that all of the contents they are attempting to and have liquidated thus far, are MY personal property. I had hired Cal Auctions in 2017 to conduct an appraisal for the value of all contents for tax purposes. I expect a response to my complaint as Cal Auctions has neglected to answer my phone calls or requests for conversation. I would like the BBB to repost the review I created on May 8, ********************* gaining resolution to this issue.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take all complaints seriously and appreciate the opportunity to provide clarification regarding the auction in question.
In response to Mr. ****** concerns, we would like to state that Cal Auctions acted in accordance with all legal requirements when conducting the auctions. We were contracted by the new owner of the property to hold the auction, and all necessary legal documentation, including court orders and notices, was obtained and reviewed prior to proceeding. These documents gave our client, the propertys new owner, the right to conduct the auction, and as a result, we were legally authorized to facilitate the sale on his behalf.
Regarding Mr. ****** claim that he attempted to reach out to us before the auction: we acknowledge his communication but must reiterate that we had all the proper court paperwork to proceed. Our legal obligations required us to follow the directives of the court and our client, who had the legal right to sell the contents of the property as part of the sale.
We understand Mr. ***** has filed a report with the *************************** and that there is an ongoing investigation, as well as a case with the San Diego Court of Appeal. While we respect these legal processes, it is important to clarify that our companys actions were in full compliance with the court's directives at the time of the auctions.
We are more than willing to cooperate with any ongoing investigations and court proceedings to ensure a fair and just resolution.
We value the opportunity to clarify our position and resolve this complaint.
