Rakuten gives me essentially menial change for cash bank, but for larger purchases where hotel stays were several hundreds of dollars, it says it takes six months to verify. I was supposed to get $31 and $15 for hotel stays I made in March. Six months later, it said it needed to still be verified. Next thing I know, I log into my Rakuten account. I received a total cashback check for ELEVEN dollars and it is telling me the hotel purchases for Agoda and Priceline have been "completed." This was never the case, and not the first time they have deleted larger balances from my cash back account. It seems they are only intent on giving customers who bother creating accounts with them pennies.Rakuten Response

Hello ******, travel orders do take longer to report and confirm than other orders. We see that your Priceline orders from March are confirmed and will be included in your November payment. Your Agoda orders from ***** are still pending. I've loved using Rakuten for years now, but I appreciate them even more after my recent experience. They worked with me and for me to verify my purchases with other vendors to ensure they can add the cash back to my account. I can't say enough great things about my experience with Rakuten, especially thanks to ****** *. from **************** ****** went above and beyond to ensure I was getting the most out of the platform. Easy to use with browser reminders & an awesome C/S response team. Your going to shop & buy on line anyway, why no just use the Rakuten browser extention to save & get a few extra bucks back for doing nothing more than shopping.If there is ever a case where your Rakuten Cash ************ aren't applied, just contact the great staff at Rakuten C/S. I was thankful to have ******** M as my representave, to help to make sure that my reward was credited.If your not using Rakuten yet, I suggest you do, to get money back just for shopping.Review from Ernesto O

Rakuten has refused to pay not only the person who referred me, but also, after fulfilling its requirement of making a purchase with ********* they refused to honor the 30 dollar bonus. I spent an entire morning going back and forth, them asking me personal information, such as form of payment and who was the person in the bill from ********** as the complete name didn't match to the dot, I told them that nowhere in their homepage did they mention that ALL NAMES should match; sometimes I use an alias for security purposes. I felt that every single email was asking for more personal and deep confidential information in order to not validate the purchase. This is by far very misleading. Had I made my research I wouldn't have made any account with them, much less make purchases with false advertising and promises to their potential users. They deleted shopping trips where I had 15% cash back. When I confronted them about the missing shopping trips and missing cash back, they stated we cant provide cash back for purchases made without the Rakuten plugin.I then sent a screenshot showing I used Rakuten and the shopping trip and they ghosted me. Looking on Reddit, it seems to be common Rakuten ghosts you for big cash back trips. ***** this company.Rakuten Response

Rakuten sent me several checks made out to me with my current address, but when I deposited them, they all bounced. I was charged separately for each bounced check. Rakuten seems to be a dangerous scam, so I advise staying away from them. Not only will you not receive your money, but you might end up losing even more due to their bounced checks.Rakuten Response

I've used them for years and it was generally fine. They recently suddenly closed my account saying "it had too many denied transactions" even though I've only been using their own Chrome plugin to book hotels, so clearly they were valid deals. When I emailed them about the issue, asking for what were some example denied transactions, their customer support ghosted me. I had over $150 with of rewards balance from hotels I had booked still on the account before they closed my account and I suspect they will keep my balance - I don't see how this isn't just theft.Rakuten Response

I’m starting to get frustrated with this company as they are not honoring CONFIRMED cashback. I have $112.96 in confirmed cashback earlier this week the amount increased to $187.96. When I reviewed my account the CONFIRMED cash back went down to $112.96 again. I wrote to inquire about this, it took 2 days for someone to get back to ask me about missing cashback when I was very clear in my initial request. I’m not not sure if it was a glitch but I’d like my confirmed cashback to reflect the $187.96 as it did before. It’s unfair to confirm an amount then take it back.Rakuten Response

Hi *******, we've recently revised our payment process to reward Cash Back for orders confirmed through our system. This adjustment was necessary to align with store return policies and the time frames it takes for stores to report data back to us. I've been using Rakuten for several years now and have experienced some fantastic deals. If ever there's a question about "missing cash back", their customer support team has been exceptionally supportive and resolutions have always been positive.
