Had to get a new roof, to replace the old roof that I think was ***** years old. I say *****, because there were 4 layers of old ashphalt shingles.'A Good Roofer' responded when other roofers just took a look at my old car and said "You can't afford us". Their cost, even with all the extras, was less than other roofers,and I got three estimates. They did the work really well, only uncovering one section at a time, so they had it covered up with the new waterproof silvery cover, before stopping for the day. So we never had to worry about the weather hurting the exposed roof. Vents, both turtles and broans, were replaced with a color that coordinated with the new roof. The old furnace flue stack had a new cap placed on it, and the flue itself was painted a color that also blended with the new roof. No hard sales pressure, like I got from some roofers I contacted, to add fancy electric vent systems. The new ashphalt roof looks better than the old roof, and the new color is so fresh looking.Only tiny drawback, is the cost was more than I wanted to spend (taking off four old layers of asphalt cost extra, laying down new sheets of underlayment cost extra, and just all the crazy prices of 2022, also cost extra), but I don't feel the company "A Good Roofer" is in full control. The other tiny drawback was the gutter company who contracted the gutter work. They did not seem as careful as the owner of "A Good Roofer" was. The gutters seem fine, though.Why did I decide to even get a quote from them? Their history goes back 35 or more years. The roofing business was in place a long time ago, then the current owner worked for the prior owner, then bought the business from the prior owner, and has owned and operated the business ever since. So 35 years of experience for just one guy. And he keeps a close watch on the 2-3 helpers he hires.
