In June 2022, BBB contacted Lenses Only regarding claims in its advertising.

Its website states "Largest selection of designer eyewear in Connecticut!"  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims, like “"Largest selection of designer eyewear in Connecticut!" can be proved or disproved.  The business did not substantiate or modify the claim.

The statement "Today, utilizing our in-store, state of the art finishing labs, LensesOnly specializes in lens replacements, giving our customers the option to put new, high-quality digital lenses in their existing frames for 50% less than other retailers" appears at its website.   Despite an advertiser's best efforts to ascertain competitive prices, it is impossible to keep a constant and up-to-date tally of all product prices from all competitors. This is a claim that can be tested and proven true or false. The business did not respond to BBB or discontinue or modify the claim.

Its return policy states "If at any time within the first 30 days after purchase, your lens or eyeglasses frame and lens purchase satisfaction is guaranteed. You may return them for replacement, exchange or store/web credit if you prefer, with your proof of purchase."  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, advertisers should only use “satisfaction guarantee” or similar representations in advertising if the seller or manufacturer refunds the full purchase price of the advertised product or service at the consumer's request.  BBB suggested that if its return policy does not include the option for a refund of the full purchase price, that it discontinue stating that satisfaction is guaranteed. The business did not respond to BBB or modify its claim.
