I took my dog into Central Animal Hospital...The DVM Wells came into the exam room and told my husband and I that due to our dog being too nervous she was unable to do an examination and recommended to put him under sedation...to clean his wound and give him medication. She then presented us with a plan and cost and told us to think about it and get back with her...we declined the service and my husband called another vet who agreed to see our dog the same day. They charged us $200 for emergency room service which the DVM said she couldn't perform...I agree we should pay for a visit but I disagree to a full charge...based on the discussion the DVM had with my husband and I.

Reviewer presented with her dog with a wound on the face. A physical exam was done on the dog but the wound was painful and sedation would be required to assess further. This would have resulted in additional charges. The reviewer misinterpreted the need for sedation to further examine the wound as meaning that a physical exam had not been completed. The wound was presumed to be a tooth root abcess and the pet owner was told that it would likely require a veterinarian outside of the hospital to do dental work since we do not do dental work on an emergency basis. She became extremely combative and rude. The standard charge for an emergency exam is $200. An exam was done, a plan was put in place, significant conversation regarding care was had with the pet owner. She was unhappy with the charge and argued that she should not have to pay. We occasionally waive fees such as these but not when so much effort is expended.
