Let's start by saying I am also a landlord and I respect honest tenant and landlord relationship.I moved in and had a lease that was supposed to be a year but instead the lease was drawn up to be 11 month upon which I asked to extend and extra month so my son can finish school upon which they raised the rent by $100, which was fine.I followed every part of the lease agreement and left the apartment in better shape than received. I was charged for items that were invalid and their lease agreement stated that if a charge is incurred they will automatically take $150 dollars from the security deposit. The imposed claims without any evidence, which I might add that I have evidence of all their claims being invalid as I took a video of the entire place before I left.I responded to their letter by certified mail and never got a response.Just to add to all of this, all their appliances were so old and the handles were broken and glued on when I moved in. Based on some of the maintenance request I can show that they were old.Their claims included the below without any evidence or receipts:$65 - remove glass and plastic from garbage disposal - Invalid because I stuck my hand in there and cleaned it myself $295 - covered holes and repaired wall with touch up paint - invalid because I never had anything on the wall $35 broken blind - already broken prior to move in and was documented on move in sheet $45 reinstall laundry bifold door - the door was fine there is no reason to reinstall, I have that on the video $35 Reattach oven handle that was removed - I never used the oven even though I cleaned it thoroughly after moving out - video can proof the handle was fine $45 Reinstall fallen front bedroom closet- that room was never used so I received the apartment with the closet door like that $150 charge for this letter fee with charges that are all invalid ************ is not honest and is just seeking ways to steal good tenants money.

UPDATE:

This issue has been resolved by Courtney, who was very professional and courteous. She understood that it wasn't about the money but more about the principle. She refunded the majority of the deposit back and we were both happy with the outcome
