RIP OFF ALERT!!!! If I could give no stars I would. My husband took our 93 Stratos to this shop with a detailed last of what he needed done. On this list was some leaking seals helm and trim etc. that needed replaced as well as other things. We told them we had a $3000 cap on repairs that's all we could spend. About a week or so later the owner calls us beck with a $4500 bill and states the feul rail is bad and needed and additional $1500 to replace it. Totaling $6000 in repairs. They never water tested it after their work. We got it home and it wouldn't start. I called the owner immediately and her sent Gene the tech to come to our house and he said it needed 2 kill switches. Hubby said order them. Meanwhile we check in to another marina and they said it wasn't the kill switches so we rejected purchasing them through Pace Marine beings that was not the issue. Then Pace owner tried to charge a restocking fee for not buying them and a labor fee for his tech coming out. After my husband fixed the issue we then discovered 2 of the seals we asked to be replaced are still leaking. They replaced the easy to get to seals but not the main one that we requested be replaced. ( both still leaking) Now after paying $6000 my husband has to redo their work that we paid them to do. They never called to let us know our bill was exceeding the $3000 cap we gave them. Then they lock your boat down until you pay and the owner carries a weapon in his hip. When Gene come to our house the one time he asked my husband "what is that?" It was the hot foot, then he said "I've never seen one of them". Mind you this was the tech listed on our bill that did the repairs. These people don't know what they are doing, the owner is clueless to anything done on our boat and only knows what his tech writes down. We got ripped off bad.

The only items of truth in that write-up is the fact that I carry a sidearm and that Gene wasn't familiar with foot-pedal accelerators. There were so many issues on this boat that $20k could have been invested and it still would need more. My client - the reviewer's husband - was informed every step of the way. The more we repaired, the more issues we found. My customer was consulted after the last round of issues and authorized only part of the repairs - budget concerns. I understand that and I emphasize that the main ram cap, leaking intermittently, was omitted by the customer - not by us - along with several other issues. THIS ISSUE WAS FULLY DETAILED ON THE FINAL INVOICE - ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS READ IT!! Furthermore, the customer also decided to sea trial the boat himself as opposed to having us do it - "I'm taking it out this weekend so don't bother. I'll call you with the results" were his exact words. The emergency call, in the rain, on Saturday resulted in a suggested solution of replacing the gear selector switch and wiring. The customer was right there along w/ Gene and concurred. The diagnosis was congruent with the condition of the rest of the wiring on the engine and boat as there were so many butt splice repairs, redundant circuits, corroded terminals, junctions, etc., that the customer decided to review the rest of the wiring himself - budget concerns once again. As for what 'the other guy' found? I don't know and I am not concerned. Hopefully it worked out and was serviced properly. The center ram cap is really no more difficult to repair than the trim rod caps, and was subsequently repaired at no charge by us, partly because I did not want to leave my customer unhappy and partly because I wanted to quiet down my customer's wife. It took us less than an hour. As for me not knowing each and every detail of every aspect, every element of every repair? Well, that's just the ravings of an uninformed person. I personally repaired the fuel tank, check valves & vents; personally repaired the hull after removing the smashed transducer; personally oversaw the entire main power service including batteries, switches, high capacity circuit breakers, cabling & wiring. So Gene completed the outboard service and Eric finished the vessel wiring - that's how a team operates. That's how a team is supposed to operate. I could go on but let me finish by wondering out loud if the customer authorized more repairs than he had discussed with his wife and when she found out, she needed to get mad at somebody. No hard feelings on my part as my Faith allows me to wish them well and hope for the best for both of them.
