DO NOT USE! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR HARD-EARNED ****!! Last summer, we hired Beachscapes to repair/reconstruct a pergola. We wanted to support our local ********* businesses which is why we landed on them. Owner, ********************* was happy to take our $1500 deposit and another $4500 to "purchase materials" and never started the job. He continually postponed the start date without any regard to our own schedule and investment. He does not return phone calls, texts and emails! The ONLY way to find him is by chance at his "Beachscapes" business office in *********. After chasing him down for months, he finally delivered product just before Christmas 2022 and went away again, promising to complete the project 1/3/23. That never happened! Instead, we repeatedly found him selling firewood from his Beachscapes business! When we asked when we might see him this time, he told ** he'd start by *** weekend. Unannounced, he had his team show up late afternoon the Friday before the weekend to tear down our existing pergola and blew ** off again come that Monday stating he decided to "take off for the *** holiday!" We told him we were through and requested half of our money back for the work he never provided. We attempted to be fair since we at least had the product to now reconstruct what had been torn down.We ended up having to hire another contractor to rebuild the pergola and complete the job. We have repeatedly attempted to recoup half of what we paid for not completing the job on time, to no avail. He refused. We are out $6k to this man and his alleged company which consists of one guy and anyone else he can find for the day. His business license should be revoked as he has absolutely no regard for his customers other than to take their cash well in advance of ever providing the product or work, if he even shows up! DO NOT USE AND NEVER GIVE HIM CASH IN ADVANCE!!

To whom it may concern. Firstly we are sorry to hear of this opinion and interpretation of the events that took place. We have a different perspective and would like to cite it here in response. We engaged in an estimation process for **** and family at their request free of charge. This estimate was in the 22k budget range and **** and family verbally agreed to embark on the backyard project but wanted some time to discuss and review further. They then called ** back for a 2nd meet to discuss and review again and requested a few more items, this brought their estimate up to the 30k range. they verbally agreed to this and thought this was the project they wanted to embark on. Then wanted to take some time to discuss and think. They then called ** out a 3rd time to sign and finalize but upon arrival decided to eliminate about 1/2 of the estimate line items and bring the agreement to the 15k range citing they had some family issues that had come up and needed to economize. We realize things come up and were happy to accommodate. They signed at 15k for 1/2 of the 2nd estimate on this now 3rd estimate, free of charge thus far and paid a 10 percent deposit of ****. Then we get to them on our operations calendar and submit to them a draw for materials. They then said that due to an emergency they needed to cancel and receive a full refund of their deposit. we then explained that once signed on and all the afforded services and meetings to get your project and our agreement just right it isn't our policy to return a refund at this point as its been very thoroughly vetted and causes ** financial harm but that we would be willing in their cited emergency scenario to only perform to the deposit amount at their selection or a single line item, They said they believed that to be reasonable and agreed to keep a few line items totaling exactly *****. which after original deposit of **** on our 2nd revised agreement brought them to a remaining balance of ****. At which time we invoiced them out on a draw for **** which they agreed and paid. this was to purchase materials and get the project started. their new balance being ***************************** two payments one for labor for **** and one after walk through for 885. we leave the last 10 percent as a surety for the homeowner to create a punch list with the ability to hold until satisfaction. Finally, after many delays and indecisiveness we get started on the project. We deliver their materials mobilize trucks, trailers and tooling and begin demo. to our recall this was on a Thursday. We had a staff member who supposedly told **** and family that wed be back the following day to complete but had an essential staff member who become unavailable and we committed to Monday. At the time we weren't viewing our calendar and didn't realize that Monday was a holiday. when we reached out to communicate this it was met with quite the resistance. We attempted to plead with them and explain that there were staff members who were taking the holiday and that wed be there Tuesday to complete. to which they said they had to go out of town and that they do not give ** permission access to the property while they were away and that they would reach out when they were back. Which they did. **** came to our office and said he wanted ***** back. We were shocked by this. We responded with that we would like to complete the project and collect the remaining **** left in the 4th revised contract. They disagreed. Even though we believed any refund to be unjust due to the complete chaos of the situation we agreed to give them their deposit back at which time **** replied " il see you in court". He denied what we believe to be more than a reasonable offer to maintain peace. All this was very disheartening and we know that after completing over 50 jobs successfully in the same year and with overwhelmingly majority customer satisfaction that we made our best effort toward a rational and successful process.
