I entered into an agreement with Five Star Adjusting to help me file a homeowners insurance claim for water/mold damage to my master bathroom. I was assigned an adjuster by the name of Craig P********. He was initially very responsive and prompt. He came to my house to examine the issue, took photos, made measurements, and filed a claim with my insurance company on my behalf. I agreed to pay him 20% of the recovery for the services. While the initial experience with Five Star and Craig P******** was positive, the responsiveness fell apart over time. After 3 months, Craig never once initiated contact with me. I never got an update. The only way I would get an updated was by calling, texting, or emailing Craig asking what was going on. I kept the conversations cordial, but i grew frustrated over time. There was one point during the contract period where there was no contact at all for over 3 months. A full 8 months into my claim and not hearing anything for a very long time, i asked if I needed to call my insurance company myself. Craig said that it wouldn't hurt. So, I found myself calling my insurance company to do the work that Craid was hired to do and the work that I was contracted to pay 20% to Five Star even though I was now doing the work. At this point, I called my insurance company directly, and they told me that what i was hearing from Craig was inacurate, and he was the one dragging his feet and not doing anything. The insurance company told me they sent the needed appraisal and forms to Craig and he hadn't responded to them. So, I pestered Craig for over a month until he finally sent me the appraisal. The appraisal was lower than I anticipated, but because of how long the process was taking and the lack of service from Five Star and Craig, I told Craig to accept the offer. Several weeks went by, but he finally sent the approval of the offer to the insurance company. The check was cashed somehow without me, and i have no funds.
