The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) was founded in 1948 and is the national certification board for dental assistants. More than 37,000 dental assistants are currently DANB certified nationwide. DANB, a nonprofit organization, is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. DANB's CDA and COA certification programs are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
DANB’s mission is to promote the public good by providing credentialing services to the dental community. We accomplish and measure the success of this mission through the creation of valid dental assisting exams, recertification requirement integrity, and valuable, visible and accessible DANB exams, Certificates and Certifications.
