On 03/28/23 I gave a deposit of $8900 to have a new bath tub installed and the walls surrounding the bathtub replaced. According to the contract this work should have been done by 7/28/23. The last time I spoke with Shaun who is supposed to be overseeing the job he told me that they were waiting on the materials. I have been trying to call to find updates but now when calling it states the phone is out of service. At this point I want my money back. My husband is handicapped and I don't work so that I can care for him. We are on a fixed income. I have been very patient and have waited thinking something might happen but I fear at this point I will not get our money back.Initial Complaint

I signed a contract with Premier Exteriors & Design on 4/27/2023 for a new garage roof and bathroom gut and remodel. The contract stated the work would be completed by 7/27/2023. As of today, 10/22/2023, the work has yet to begin and I am unable to contact the company. Several calls have been placed over the last several months with no return call and now the phone line is temporarily out of service. I paid a $4,000.00 deposit upon signing the contract in April and have also taken out a personal loan in the amount of $20,000.00 which I have already started to pay. I have been in contact with the loan company ********** and they are doing an investigation.Initial Complaint

In March 2023 we hired this company to put a new shower in the house ( demo the old and install new). Our loan agreement started 3/15/23. The forecast for completion was verbally assured to us by august. After many phone calls in June and July ( to set up a date for them to start) we finally got them to give a start date of Monday 8/14/23. This project was advertised (at the home and garden show at Mohegan Sun) as a 1 day job start to finish. When it got closer they told us they didnt have their shower guy until Wednesday (8/16/23) but would like to come in and demo Monday 8/14/23 to help them, which we agreed to. They came 8/16/23 and did not finish and have not returned, also disconnecting their phone (or blocking numbers Im not sure but all we got was busy tones). The project was $14,500, the amount charged so far is $9,667 (for material) We found out through calling the shower manufacturer that they never ordered the door to the shower with that money. The shower works, but the caulking is not finished and the shower wall is not flush against the side so getting a shower curtain up there has proven difficult. We are concerned about moisture collecting under the shower pan and between the walls, which would obviously be an expensive fix for us.In short we were charged $9,667 ( of which we paid $4,200) for unfinished and sub par work, and near zero communication since the agreementInitial Complaint

We signed a contract with Premier Exteriors and Design, LLC on 3/30/2023 for removing our existing deck and replacing it with a brand new deck. The price quoted was $37,500. We paid 1/3 of the money ($12,500) as a down payment, and another 1/3 the following week for (allegedly) the "final measurements". We were originally given a timeline of about 6-8 weeks for completion of the work, with an absolute end date of 3/30/24. In June, with nothing having been done yet, or anything heard yet, we were put in contact with the Production Manager, who was to be in charge of our project. Throughout the summer he kept giving us new dates our work would start. In August the Production Manager, when we actually were able to get in contact with him, informed us he had left the company. So we were put back in touch with Nick K, the owner who we signed the contract with originally. He promised to get right to work and figure out when we would have our new deck. As of today, 10/5, the office phone is temporarily unavailable, and the owner Nick K does not have voicemail set up on his phone.Initial Complaint

I signed a contract with Premier Exteriors and Designs on March 13th, 2023. This contract was for Premier to install 7 windows with trim, 2 exterior doors with storm doors, replace the bathroom shower, bathroom sheet rock on the walls, ceiling and replace the ceiling fan. I was told I needed to release the first $12,466.66 from the bank loan so they could order the materials and supplies to complete the work. Work was supposed to start by the end of May. When I didn’t hear from them, I called at the end of May, but they said everything was back ordered. I called several times after the call in May and each time I was told items were on back order. Finally, I received a call in July saying they could come out to do the windows. They came and spent 2 days installing 6 out of 7 windows. They said they had to reorder the 7th window because they ordered the wrong size. When I asked how long it would take, they said not long, it should only be a few weeks. I was told I needed to approve the next stage in the loan saying the job was started so they could pay the contractor and get the installation of the doors and shower set up with a different contractor. I reluctantly released the second amount $12,466.66 on July 18th. I called several times to see when they would be out to install the doors and shower, but no one returned my calls. In September when I called, the phones were turned off. After doing some research, I found out the owner closed the doors. I have paid Premier a total of $24,933.32. The company should pay me back the money advanced to them for ordering the product not installed and the work left undone. There are many people in CT and MA that have been affected. I have contacted the Attorney General in CT about this issue and the consumer protection department.Initial Complaint

On June 22, 2023, Premier Exteriors and Design came to my home to give me an estimate for siding, roofing, 3 doors and gutter protection. This was amended on June 23 to change some of the requirements that I had about the design of the exterior. A final contract was signed on that date and a deposit of $15,000 by personal check was given to them. Shortly thereafter, $40,000 was authorized to be taken from our HELOC account (for a total of $55,000) to purchase the necessary supplies to complete the job, which was to total $80,600. The job was to begin by September 22, with a completion date of October 22, barring any unavoidable delays. As of September 30, I have had no contact with the company, and I have placed phone calls at two different numbers, both of which are out of service at this time. I would like for the work to be completed ASAP, or to at least get some kind of correspondence from them explaining when the work will be completed, or a refund of all money provided to them with no penalties.Initial Complaint

On 5/19/2023 I signed a contract with Premier Exteriors and Design to remove two windows and replace them with new windows. The Representative is Geraldo L******. We gave the representative $1,800.00 and agreed to pay an additional $900.00 once the work was done. Per the contract the windows were to arrive from the factory around the end of August and all work should be completed by mid September at the latest. At the beginning of September I sent an e-mail to Premier Exteriors and Design requesting a status update on the windows. Three days later I called the company since we never got a response from my e-mail. I called three different numbers (************* ************ *** ************) but none of the calls were answered, a couple stated the number is temporarily not in service.Initial Complaint

I signed a contract in February of 2023 to replace both exterior doors and most of the windows in the condo at ** ********** *** Estimated time for delivery of custom made doors and windows was August of 2023. Half of the project estimate, $9,250.00, was paid on February 25, 2023. During the waiting time, several calls and/or emails were made to get updates on the delivery of materials from the contractor's supplier. All we could get was a verbal reply that they were still waiting for delivery. Finally on Sept. 18, 2023, at my request, my father started to pursue an answer to the delay and lack of communications. He discovered the phones were disconnected and the business was apparently closed. Several different people had been contacted by us through the wait period, It seemed that there was a lot of turnover at the business. There is a partial call record available.Customer response

Work has begun on the project as of 13 October 2023. Note that the project has been in breach of contract since the end of September. Approximately 25% completed by end of day on 13 October with a tentative plan to continue working through the weekend. Quality of workmanship thus far is satisfactory though pace is slower than what they estimated.Customer response

A subcontractor was hired to perform the installation of (4) windows and (1) sliding door. I am unsure if using a subcontractor for installation is typical for this company or not and I was given no information at all about the subcontractor before, during or after their work. The subcontractor was competent and completed the work they were assigned in a professional way. There were issues with the materials due to measurement errors and omissions made by Premier Exteriors, the main contractor, in the early stages of the project which increased the scope of work for the installation significantly. No additional cost for this extra scope was born by me though it required a much more invasive installation method. The subcontractor did exceptionally well considering what they were given to work with. However this situation and the underlying errors and omissions made by Premier Exteriors in measuring and ordering the materials for the work further underscores their incompetence and negligence. I am grateful that I got through this installation without a complete disaster... The total scope of the project is now about 80-85% complete - a front door installation is still to be done, likely later this week or next week.
